Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thompson en
tertained at a deljghtful Informal buf
fet supper Tuesday evening at I heir
home In Brook wood in honor of Miss
Dorothy Horner, of Baltimore, the
guest of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Hor
ner.
The reception hall and the living
room were decorated with palms and
ferns and In the dining room, where
^the delicious supper was served, the
table decorations gave evidence of the
artistic taste of the hostess. The cen
terpiece was a rut glass bowl filled
with polnsetta and placed on a silver
tray. At two corners of the table tall
vases held thu same brilliant blos
soms and the candles and candle shades
were In the same shade of red.
Miss llorner was much admired In a
toilet of white silk mull, fashioned with
Valenciennes lace, and at her corsage
aha wore red roses.

social event of much Interest to the

Miss Scott Is the dnughter of Colonel
S. 8. Scott, of Auburn. Colonel Scott
Is well and widely known on account of
his many Important public services and
as the author of many llterdry works o*
great merit.
Miss Scott Is a young woman o
much culture and of lino social nttnin
inents. She received her education nt
the Florence, Ala., Normal College, anti
the Alubunm Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. cimppell is a prominent and suc
cessful lawyer and takes an active In
terest In the affairs of his state.
The wedding was one of the most
elaborate and beautiful celebrated hi
Auburn fn many a day. ,
On account of the prominence and
the families of the contracting parties
there were ninny visitors present from
Alabama and Georgia. The esteem In
which Miss Scott und Mr. Chappell
were held by their friends was Indi
cated by the large number of hand
some presents they received.
The best man was Mr. J. J. Williams,

Woman’s Alliance of the Ifnlta-
