Lee, commanding the Confederate Vet eran*, gives un explanation of the let ter written by Mrs. Jefferson Davi*, which creuted much comment among the United Daughters of the Confeder acy. The full text of the Mr*. Jeffer*on Davl*’ letter wn* withheld from publi cation. It gave Mr*. Davl*’ reason* for having made her home in the North after the war and criticised Mississippi, the state of Jefferson Davis* residence. Letter Explained. Among other things, Mr*.
