ARE REPORTED AS LIGHT.
Petersburg, V«., Dec. 11;—The re
ceipts and sales of loose tobacco at
the several warehouses In Petersburg
for some weeks past have been com
paratively light, but the prices have
been well maintained. Nothing has
been done In the tob&rco market the
past week owing to the Christmas holi
days. The aalea will be resumed at the
warehouses about January 2. It is es
timated that a little over one-fourth of
the crop of tobacco raised In the coun
tries contiguous to Petersburg has been
marketed. ,

.Treasurer A. L. Hull of the Univer
sity of Georgia was a caller upon State
Treasurer Park at the capltoi Mon
day morning and when he returns to
Athena he will carry with him 632,000
in checks for the use of the university

country. In the last 24 hours rains have
been general over the eastern half of the
United States, heaviest In Mississippi, Ala
