A GLIMPSE OF 8PRING.

splendid Whitehall street shops spring
ha* nlrendy come to some of them. If
handsome linen mil* burdened with

beautiful hat* and soft, diaphanous
material* count for any sign.
At one great department store lovely

window*, while up stulr*. uhare women
are tempted with exquisite millinery,
suggestive of the best shop* of Baris,

At this same establishment there arc
ts galore, each one of which tells It*
story of coming spring. There am
lovely black Ince hnts, straight of brim
modest of crown, with touche* of black
velvet nnd long ostrich plumes, caught
with brilliant buckles of rhinestone.
Another Mack hat !h of chib, wtth
quantities of purple violet* and grefen

A black hut of Ohlp and velvet has Its
Komberness relieved by several white
birds, placed near the back, while a

Swagger walking hats Ate among
this attractive collection, some of black

with pretty bright plghl silk, which I*
softened by a covering of black net. A
swell white hat of Mllnn straw with

A large white chip ha* four or five

Another v.*nn Ir. the prettiest shade*
of yellow, with w ing* nnd one .or two
large yellow roses as the trimming. It
I* well to bear In mind that yellow la
very popular in the new spring mil
linery although light blue seems to
successfully claim a larx** share of
tonsidt ration front fashionable women.
A lingerie hat of tine pnle blue linen
embroidered In white with pair blue
velvet ribbon about the soft crown was
especially pretty.
A dark cream-colored straw, with
graceful splays of wheat covering the
crown, two long black Mephlstopheles

fective.
The shapes of the spring hat* are
