The following is the Act paired by tbe
(x>gi,lature in referanos to the suspended
Banka
AN AOT.
Entitled an Aot to pravi le against the for
feiture ot the several Bank Charters in
this St ite, on account of non.ipecie pay
ment for a given time, aod for other pur
poses therein named.
See. 1st. Be it enacted by the Senate anil
House of Representatives la General As
sembly mot, and it ie hereby enacted by the
authority of tbe eame. That the Act enti
tled an Act to coin pel the several Banks of
thi* State to redeem tbeir liabilities in epe-
cie, and to provide for the forfeiture of tko
several Charter!. Ac., passed and assented
to the 18th December, 1840, be aod the eame
is hereby suspended until tbe 16.b day of
Novtmber, 1858,
Sec. 2d. Be it further enacted, Tbit
whan any Bank or Bank, now incorporated,
or which may hereafter be incorporated io
this State, shall refuse o'r fail to pay specie
for any of its bills, notes or drafts or other
writing for which they may be bound whan
demanded by any iodivida.'.l or individual!,
they shall.b: liable to suit thereon in nty
of the Courts of Law or Equity in this Slate,
and such individual or individuals in addi,
tioo to the principal of said notes, and Ike
lawful iuterest thereon sb&II roetive ten per
cent damages for sach refu-al or failure up

be, and be is hereby anthorued to withhold
