By reference to our Legislative reports, it will
bo scon that the motion to reconsider Mr. Price a
resolution wt»» lost iu the Senate.—As the mut
ter now stands, the question of the right ot col
ored citizens to hold office, 1b, by n resolution o
both branches of the General Assembly, referred
to the Supreme Court of the Senate. This Is
another triumph of the policy advocated by the
New Era. More ol this anon.—Atlanta Arne
Era.
Such triumphs arc not worth a “continental
dime."
A. Hahdsumb Land Spkculatws.-Co1. Y.
K. Stevenson has recently disposed ol his tract
ol land lying in Crow Creek Valley, near Chat-
tanooga, which he purchased a few years since
forflve thousand dollars, lor the rouud stun of

What is Expected.—'The philosopher of the
Tribune is pointing out to the President elect
the kind of company lie is expected to keep.
He says:
i “ We venture-to say that while Qcn. Oranl
probably selects the company that best suits his
taste both among white men and black, he will
not decline to mingle in a public entertainment
with men whose votes assisted in Ids election.
If a black man was good enough to vote for the
Republican party in North Carolina he ujood
enough to attend an Tnauyuraiion BaU. m \\a*h-
ington."
And if he is good enough for all that, why
not good enough to frequent Gukeley s wan
slon and conduct the lsdies thereof to public
entertainments?
