All those who hare candidly examined nnd
analyzed the October end November elections
must nave come to the conclusion that a great
political revolution hud commenced nil over
the United States, and those who have care-
lolly observed the elections that have taken
pla.v since the general election in October must
sec that this political revolution rr going on
with an accelerated Momentum. The changes
that took place In the October elections were
not so greator rtnrtllng as those which occurred,
in November, and those that have taken place
since the November electiou, though lew in
number are still ratife significant of comjug
•-Vents. First, in the election in the Kalcigh
Congressional district ol North Carolina to fill
a vacancy, the increased mujorily given to' the
Democratic candidate shows that the reaction
in,that State was progressing.
Then tho election to fill a vacancy IcHhc first
Senatorial district ot Pennsylvania, shows a
cliango ol between two Bnd three thousand, in
that one district iu tavor ol Tlie Democracy, m

it is remembered that the Radicals made great
exertions to save that district. There L also
another very important question settled by the
great Democratlc^ain tu that lituiet. That

Iron, the Lancaster Ledger :
Wo havi to record this week the most brutal
murder that has evir occurred in Lancaster
county, within our.' knowledge. Mr. David
Kirkpatrick, a quiet citizen, living about one
mile, from Hie village, was, on Saturday night
last at about 8 o’clock, called to the door ot his
residence and inhumanly shot down. He lived
scvoral hours alter the deed was committed and
remained sensible to tho last, and gave his
dying testimony as to who the assassin was.
This being the first outrage of the kind that has
t tken place An tins county, the whole population
manifest a searching disposition to torret out the
guilty party. Politics, it is thought, had nothing
to do with the matter. Mr. K. was a Conserve
live, but never look an active part in politics.
It was discovered, shortly alter its occurrence,
ihat ho bad been shot with his own gun, sup
posed to have txieji.stolen from the house while
uhe family were at supper in the kitchen. A
