The meeting opened with Miss Joe Butler conducting the dcvotionals, fol lowed hy Mi s Olive Mitcham with a splendid paper on “llandlcnpiicd." Miss Ora Guinn gave a good paper on ‘‘Homebody." Mis-- Sara Hewlett f<d lowed with a paper on "What would you (Jo.” Miss i.oulse McFlvany pre sented a pa]a*r on "Which would you rut her lie,” followed h.v quotations hy Miss Florence Bell, Miss jElizubetli May field gave an interesting paper on "Nohody can take your responsibility’.’ following which a round table discus sion was ordered tinder the able lead ership of the new president and ynany helpful conclusions were arrived at. After it most delightful social hour un der the directions of Mrs. Brown, the meeting adjourned to meet hack with Brown on J . Monday afternoon, March 25. Merry Needle Club The Merry Needle club met with Mrs. Irwin Cowan on Thursday, Feb ruary 21. A delightful half hour was spent in sewing after which the hos tess entertained with a clever card throwing. .Mrs. Jack McCollum win ning the prize, a lovely handkerchief. The hostess presented each member with a row of George Washington pins, the object was to remove the pins, then place them hack as quickly as possible. Miss Sara McCollum won the prize, a lovi-ly powder box. The hostess assisted by Mrs. Brisiudine, served a delightful salad course with hot tea. We regret very much that several of our members were unable to he with us. The next meeting will he with Miss Verda Harper on Thurs day, March 7. The pastor used as Ids two sermon suhjeets, "On the Threshold of Lent.' and K-al Treasures of Home. Next Sunday the sermon subject of the mottling worship will he "The Kart lily Life of the Holy Spirit, Kv cuing, ‘ Believing Without Se-in-'.' The prayer meetings on Thursday evenings are proving to be especially Interesting. But the fact lias long been known that people can't he in terested in those tilings about which they know nothing. "Study to show thyself approved.” Attend these serv ices in order to do tlds. It is neces sary to he educated along the lines of the Gospel in order to live as a true Christiun. Rockdale News Rain, rain, rain, seems as that is all we get now. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Sock well are still visiting in our community. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hartley and children spent Sunday in Atlanta, guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Hill. Mr. Lawrence Underwood spent Sunday with home folks. Mr. Bon Rodgers called on H. E. Hartley Monday night. We was sorry to hear of the mad dog Idling so mays hogs and dogs through our settlement. Little Ben Hill is much improved at tlds writing, we are glad to say. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hill and son, Gold en, spent a short while Friday night with Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hartley. Miss Jewel Hill spent the week-end with home folks. 1 Mr. Torn Bowen and son, of Decatur, called ott Rodgers brothers a while Saturday afternoon. Mrs. H. E. Hartley and son, H. E., Jr., and Mrs. S. W. Rodgers spent one day last week with Mrs. A. W. Mize. Mr. and Mrs. Plus Hill and son, Herbert, spent Friday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. John McCullough. Little ii. E. With such a general desire for har mony, and fellowship and'with so many people working for cooiieratlon, brotherly love, progress, eae., Conyers is safe for all for some time, at least. When people work together for one tiling it will surely come. if we claim that we are so smart and so far ahead of “Old Times" no tice how much we quote those who liv ed years ago, also compare what we have written in the "present age” with that of the old writers. We certain ly have not surpassed them and I doubt if we have equalled them. Think of what is being written today and how much of it will lie quoted in the coming days. Our idea of a ride over a rock pile Is about what we get when we go up North Main street in our Ford. Mil stead avenue and South Main com plete the trio. Some of our heroes are men who in tin* past have championed some great cau~e and carried it through success fully. There are many issues 'now that would make heroes of men if they could lead us to a good settle ment. Have we the men? The good people of any community set the standards for that communi ty, so why worry that the worst will overtake us.
