Callaway, of LaGrange, (in., spent Tuesday in Conyers and Rockdale county, where lie is evre popular and influential by reason of his several years' progressive leader ship while serving as vice president and general manager of the Mllstead Mfg. Cos. Mrs. Callaway lias been con lined at an Atlanta hospital for sev iral days under treatment, where she will most likely remain for another week or ten days. Her many friends in this community wish for her com plete restoration of health. Miss Irene Bowen returns to her post with tlie Fourth National hank in Atlanta tomorrow after a ten-day vacation, spent with her mother, Mrs. Lizzie Bowen, at Conyers, entertain ing over last week-end Misses Emma Boyd Cowan, of Conyers and Cather ine Gillespy, of Atlanta and Messrs. Charles Baber and Oscar McGowen. of Atlanta, and Julius Parker, of Cov ington. Beginning this wipk, Miss Bowen moves back to Conyers and \yjll again commute between Conyers and Atlanta. Mrs. C. E. Bailey, of Columbia, S. C., daughter of Hon. and Mrs. W. U. Wallace, is on an extended visit with her parents in Conyers. Mrs. Bailey delights in leading her mother, aunt ißetty. now almost blind and stooped with age, about the streets of Con yers, where aunt Betty once led her around in early childhood. Once a man, twice a child as it were. Mrs. Bailey is the better half of Charlie Bailey, conductor on the Southern Railway out of Columbia. Mrs. Printup Wilson, of Fort Val iev. remains over for another week’s visit in Conyers with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Bowen. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson operate the Winona Hotel at Fort Valley. Fort Valley is the heart of our famous Georgia Peach belt of national reputs not only for its rosy fruit, but equally us well for its beau tiful women. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF MRS. JULIA WALKER An occasion of much interest to a host to friends and relatives was ihe celebration of the 78tli birthday of Mrs. Julia Walker at her home on March !!4. About noon children and grand chil dren from far and near came driving in until about <SO people had assembled to offer congratulations and wish Mrs. Walker many happy returns of the day. As this was also the birthday of her oldest son, Mr. Bartow. Walker, he also shared some of the honors of the occasion. It is always a joyous time when the members of this happy family gather at the old home, es pecially on such an occasion as this. A part of the festivities not to be overlooked was the bountiful spread around which the family gathered. It being such a beautiful day, dinner was spread on long tables under the trees. At the conclusion of this dinner, Mrs. Walker cut and served the beautiful birthday cake adorned with the 78 candles. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Bartow* Walker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Adolphus Walker and family, Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Potts and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Grenade and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Walker and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hardemon, Mrs. Virgil Howell and children, Miss Georgia Walker and Mrs. Julia Walk er. Mrs. Lillie McDaniel, Mr. Bert Mad dox. Mr. and Mrs. John Harden, all of Conyers, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Dodson and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Walker and family, Mr. A. G. Walker and Mrs. Whatley, of Atlanta. Mrs. Ralph Champion, Mrs. Maggie Cham pion, of Greensboro, Miss Doris Walk er, of Douglasville, and Rev. I. G. Walker, of Atlanta. BIRTHDAY PARTY Little Bettye Tribble celebrated her 'sixth birthday last Saturday after noon, March 23, entertained by her t mother and Miss Joe Butler its joint .hostess. There was many games enjoyed by the children, among which was pin ning the tail on a large horse. Nora White won the prize, which was a large white rabbit. Among those who enjoyed the par ty were the following: Jackie und Dana Cowan, ißetty Elliott, Nora White, Ruth Patrick, Velma and Gra dy Carter, George Owens, Jr., Floria Mann. Dean and Margaret Miller, Bob bie Brisendine, Lenora and Betty Ai ken, Winfree Patrick, Ida Sue Rice, Waldo Bowen, Jr., Evelyn White, Mor ris Sims, Fred Mann and Annette El lis. Delicious refreshments were served by Mrs. E. L. Tribble, Mrs. W T . S. But ler and Miss Joe Butler. The children all went away with a happy heart, carrying an Easter chicken. Job Printing Yes!
