Mr. Dan Leftwich, Davidson Col
lege senior student, spent the spring
holidays in Conyers with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. E. 0. Leftwich.
Mr. Boyce Fincher of Atlanta, spent
the week-end in Conyers, guest of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Fincher.
Mrs. S. J. Kelly spent Thursday in
Atlanta shopping and getting ready
for Grand Opera.
Mr. and Mrs. Broughton Ivey and
his father, Mr. I. 0. Ivey of Atlanta,
pent the week-end at home with his
family.
Mr. I.uther Morris, splendid young
man of Conyer3, has been transferred
from Anniston, Ala. to Atlanta, where
he will be connected with the Sinclair
Oil company. For the present he
will commute between Atlanta and
Conyers where he will live with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Morris,
Sr. We are delighted to have this
young man back in our town and com
munity life.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Veal, of
Atlanta, where they have made their
home for some time will move back
to Conyers this week and occupy
rooms with his mother, Mrs. W. S.
Veal, on North Main street. We are
delighted to have this splinded young
couple back in Conyers. Mr. Veal
will ride the trains to and from At
lanta.
Mr. W. F. Tucker age 79, died sud-.
denly at his home in Rockdale coun
ty Tuesday afternoon. He is survived
by one brother, Mr. J. Henry Tucker,
of the Hewlett & Downs department
store, and two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Ba
ker and Mrs. Adelaid Bird. He is sur
vived by his widow and eight chil
dren, three daughters, Clio, Ola and
Lona and five sons, Monroe, Cleve
land, Jim, Troy and John. Funeral
Wednesday by Pastor J. L. Drake and
interment in East View cemetery.
Mrs. Jennie McCollum Seamans of
Atlanta visited the Misses Esther and
Sara McCollum last week.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Allison Cowan and
family moved from Conyers over the
week-end, back to the farm over near
Velta. This most estimable family
spent the winter in the Commercial
Hotel in Conyers.
Miss Laverne Stephenson, who re
cently moved to batchelor quarters in
an apartment out Ponce de Leon Way
in Atlanta, spent the week-end, in
Conyers, guest of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. M. R. Stephenson. We did not
get to interview the young lady, but
judgeing from he happy appearance,
her new home is all that she could
wish for.
Miss Margaret Evans of Stone
Mountain, spent the week-end in Con
yers, guest of Mrs. Ida Beatty.
Mrs. Fannie Welborn of Atlanta,
spent the week-end in Conyers, guest
of her mother, Mrs. G. V. Cowan.
Miss Given Riley of Trenton, Fla.,
will make her home in Conyers for
the summer months, living with Mrs.
Betty Hicks on Institute street. Con
yers is delighted to have this most ex
cellent young lady move back home.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Purvis and
young daughter, Jean, of Chicopee,
spent the week-end in Conyers, guest
of Mr. and Mrs. W. Tharpe Baldwin.
Mrs. H. W. Baldwin of Madison, is
at the home of Mi\ and Mrs. £ W.
Tharpe Baldwin for a few days’ visit.
Mrs. Baldwin made like she recognized
up upon the occasion of our recent
visit to Madison, hut since she did not
come up and speak to us, we had
rather believe that she did not recog
nize us fully, otherwise we could not
forgive her. Anyway we had a great
time and enjoyed the revival service
very much.
Mrs. R. L. Hale had as her Sunday
guests, Mr. Male, Sammy, Jessie Hale
and wife, of Atlanta; Mr. and Mrs.
S. T. Almand and Mrs. Sue Almand
Martin of Madison. “Aunt Sue” is
eighty-two year of age, but still en
joys a day’s visit.
Miss Ida Francis Gleaton, daughter
of Col. and Mrs. John S. Gleaton, of
Decatur, spent the week-end in Con
yers, guest of Mrs. Geo. W. Gleaton.
Mr. and Mrs. William T. Dean of
College Park spent the week-end in
Conyers, guests of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. Will Cowan.
Mrs. Brown Tyler and children of
Hapeville is spending several days
with Mrs. R. W. Tucker.
Dr. and Mrs. R. S. Carter spent
Wednesday in Tallapoosa, guest of
Mrs. Lee Pounds.
Mrs. J. J. Langford is leaving today
for Dallas, Texas, where she goes for
an extended visit with her son, Mr.
Arthur J. Langford and family.
Miss Ella Sims, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Newt Sims, for a year or
two departmental supervisor of Sears
Roebuck & Cos. in Atlanta, is but an
other striking example of industry and
determination that is so characteristic
of our boys and girls who go out to
make their mark in the world. Miss
Sims has just been promoted to the
position of assistant buyer for this
great establishment, a distinct recog
nition of her dependability and re
sourcefulness and thus it is'that Con
yers and old Rockdale county is fur
ther honored in the commerial life
of America. We have them on the
west coast, in the far noth and |
throughout these states, who, like Miss
Sims, are leading in their field of en
deavor. We are proud of you boys
