HIGHWAY BONDS
Mr. Kugone Kemp, of Atlanta, spout Tuesday of tlUs week in Conyers in
(l„. interest of a statewide bond issue for highway poroses to supplant om
pres. nt plan, known as the patch or pay as yon go plan. He calls attention t
the fact that there will lie no new work undertaken within the next two years
nailer this old plan due to an overload of projects already started. He also
~; l| |s attention to the fact that the proposed bond issue will not increase taxes
mu! that the issue will provide a complete system of permanent highways with
in period of eight to ten years that will he our greatest asset and the system
and bond payments can be met with present taxes. Conic on Rockdale and
hi up for a greater Georgia and enjoy life as you other words pay
ns you ride.
11l quest ion is frequently asked how a serial bond issue is retired. The
st:. aaeat below shows the $75,(MM1,0U0 bond Issue proposed by the County
Commissioners, and provides for $15,000,000 bonds to he sold each year for
fi\ years, and during the fifth year the retirement at the rate of $;t,750000
begins for a period of twenty years. The table shows the bonds outstanding
each year, the bonds redemied, the intreest at 4 per cent, and the total pay
ment made each year. This is on the assumption that the bonds would be is
simi during 1030:
