It was found that 10 almshouses had only white itimatv when visited. Three almshouses ha-1 only colored inmates when visited. Children Decreased It is significant to note that th-- number of children found in the alms houses on the occasion of the visits by the department has decreased. In 1925 there were 33 children in almshouse-. Phis number had decreased to ft iu 1926 and to 5 in lft27. Almshous < are not suitable institutions for children.
