The Right Column
In (he t-ouirresssioual race in the Fifth
District. Hubert O. W. Ranmpeck was
the wiuuer over Hooper Alexander and
Jarne' Hill Palmer ly the handsome
majority of 4.101. and a pi anility of

win the nomination.
Pulton County gave 3.520 votes to the
winner. IK- Kalb 2.000, I K.uglas 401,
Campbell 497 and Rockdale 341. Rock
dale -T'.ive 19 votes for Alexander and
IS for Palmer.
William Schley Howard, chairman
of the Fifth District, declared that tills
victory puts an end to the indepen
dent movement in Georgia.
There were only 9.4 J-7 votes cast in
the five counties comprising the dis
trict out of an eligible list of 65 Am
votes. _ .
This is the first time in the history
of the district that an independent can
didate has offered to run against a reg
ular candidate.
