Social - Personal YVYLY ~ HOLI^AND A wedding of wide interest was that of Miss Lawrence Curtis Wyly and Rev. Harry Keller Holland on the evening of October 2nd, in the chap el of t lie Andetson Auditorium, Montreat, N. C. The ehai>el was artistically decorat ed with mountain green combined with white astors, dahlias and cosmos. On each side of the altar were tall, ivy twined standards (tearing lighted can dles that added a soft glow of beauty to the scene. Prior to the ceremony, Mrs. Crosby Adams played several piano selections. Following this Mrs. Willis Wilson sung “O Perfect leve”. Another feature of the musical program was the bridal chorus from “Lohengrin”, which was sung by the choir of the Montreat Normal School, under the direction of Crosby Adams. The natural loveliness of the bride, ns she entered with her brother Wil liam Wyly, was enhanced by her be coming gown of ivory satin, cut prin cess style, and by th, eveil which, caught cap-faslilon about her head with orange blossoms, fell in graceful folds. She carried a large ixiuquet of bride’s roses, ferns and showers of swansonia. The groom, accompanied by his liest ninn, the Rev. Hal Keller, of At lanta, awaited the bride at (lie altar. The impressive ring ceremony was jierformed by t lie Rev. Willis Wilson, D. I>.. of Lincolnton, N. C., —The Sa vannah (Ga.) Press. Rev. Holland is pastor of the Con yers Presbyterian church, nud the Iso lde of the town and community wel come he and his bride, and wish them much happiness and success. The pop ular couple arrived at the Manse Tues day evening. BIBLE CLASS MEETS The October meeting of the Susan nah Wesley Bible Class was held with Mrs. James Mann and Mrs. Lou Rice at the home of Mrs. Mann. The President, Mrs. W. C. Patrick presided. Opening Sion*;, “What n Friend We Have in Jesus.” Prayer, Mrs. J. M. Tjasslter. Scripture Reading, 14 Chapter St. John, by the PreshMit. Thirteen memtors were present. The business came next after which the following program was rendered: “The House by the Ride of the Road” Miss Martha Ramsey. “The Christian Friend,” Mrs. J. M. Lassiter. “Friendship”, Miss Cora lam El liott. An interesting Bible contest was held. The hostesses served dainty re freshments at the conclusion of the meeting. The place of the November meeting will foe announced later. Mrs. W. S. Signian, Sec. ROGERS - SMITH Miss Oiial Rogers and Mr. Ernest Smith were happily married October 38th, 1929. Esq. Lewiis Almand of Newton County, performed the cere mony. MOORE - HARRILSON Miss Maggie Moore and Mr. B. F. Harrilson were happily married Sep tember, 29th, 1929, by Rev. J. J. Ste phenson. METHODIST CHURCH NOTES The congregations last Sunday were excellent. The Minister gave the four elements in a propsperous church and communi ty. The Elements were. First —Industry. Second —Sensible Spending. Third —Co-operation. Fourth —Basis of proprieties, right tCOUSlldSS. Congregation at evening service was splendid. Theme for evening service, “Hounds of Heaven or God Persuing men.” BIRTHDAY PARTY An affair of wide interest was the Itlrtlnlay party Sunday, given in hon or of Mrs. E. F. Cook whose 70th birth day it was. Tile long table which was placed un der the mulberry trees had for a cen ter piece a tall yfjset of gcorgeous dah lias, where th,e presumptions dinner was served. After a delightful day her children and friends dejwrted wishing her many more happy birthdays. The children present were Mr. and Mrs. W. It. Cook an difamily, Mrs. H. M. Blanchard and little son, Ralph, Mr. Dewey Cook, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Cook and family of Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Cook and family of Stock bridge, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. PATRICK GIV EBRIDGE PARTY Mr. and Mrs. I). H. Patrick gave a Bridge Party last Tuesday night at thiel r home on East Avenue. The home was lieautifully decorated with garden flowers. MEETING The October meeting of the Chil dren of the Confederacy met Friday af ternoon at the Conyers Hotel. The hostesses being Misses Sara Morris, Margaret Cowan, Renee Cannon and Helen Hannah. Sinquefield with an at tendance of ten. Mrs. Towns lead the devotional, her subject being, “Love and Co-opera tion.” Prayer by Mrs. W. L King. Business metting followed with good reports and collections. Closing prayer by Mrs. Sinquefield. A delicious refreshment w 7 as served by the hostess. Circle No. 2 met nt the home of Mrs. M. P. Tribble Monday afternoon at 3:30. Mrs. ,T. F. Davis, chairman, presided. Miss Mary Ann Austin spent last week end in Atlanta and saw 7 Davey liee. Mrs. P. E. Dearwent and two toys, Harold and Paul were w r eek end guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Sinquefield. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hale, Mr. Alva Hale, Miss Genevieve Camp of Atlan ta were week end guests of Mrs. R. L. Hale, afte v attending the Ga.-Yale game in Athens. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Mr. Hubert Crow and Miss Gny>e Blankenship of Atlanta were the guests Sunday of Misses Willie Sue and Louise Stanton. Misses Clara Bell and Annie Laura Cowan of Atlanta spent a few days last wO?k with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L Cowan. Mr. George Wood of Young Harris, was a guest Sunday at the home of Mr. ad Mrs. W. T. Fee. Go To See Planes Forty planes landed Saturday night at Candler (Field and remained over Sunday. Both monoplanes and bi planes composed the group' Twenty-seven of these planes are competing for the Edsel B. Ford trophy. This wonderful group of planes marks the greatest event in the his tory of planes in Georgia. Among those going up from Conyers fo see the planes were Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Galley, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Rob ins, and little son, John Allen, Mr. Gailey Summers , Mrs Harry L. White, and daughter, Evelyn, Mr. John Robt. White, Mr. and M. P. Tribble and family. Georgia Wins The Sophomores of the University of Georgia defeated Yales eleven, 15-0 at Athens, last Saturday afternoon. The Georgia boys tore down the Yale line with little trouble, hut with a firm determination to win, and win, they did. .Smith, Rose and Leathers starred for the Georgia team.
