Keeping Up
Appearance
By A Home Owner
We all know how hard It Is
sometimes to keep a stiff upper
lip—dress well on a small income,
borrow money to pay the income
tax. but somehow we do It—
grumbling the while, but the most
depressing thing of all is when the
Spring Sun shines to come home to
a House sadly in need of paint. If
legislature would only pass a
“Paint and Property Preserve’’ act
with a penalty attached, we’d
grumble but we’d paint, even if we
had to paint the green out of last
year’s suit, and sand paper the seat
of our pants. As it is we grumble
but don’t paint.
What we should do, is to paint
and not grumble especially when
there’s a “Paint Product of Every
Paint Purpose” — which is the
slogan of the famous paint factory
of the Lampton, Crane & Ramey
Company.
It frequently happens that things
done from a purely self interested
standpoint have far reaching re¬
sults that bear the stamp of
altruism.
This is true of the “Save the
Surface” campaign conducted by
the Paint and Varnish Trades.
The practical information dissem¬
inated generally, and gratis Is
almost invaluable to property own¬
ers.
For instance, from the outside in
decay begins, whether of metal or
of wood. Unprotected wood offers
hospitality to the worm that slowly
but surely destroys. Unprotected
metal accumulates rust and the
mischief begins. We blame it on
the elements, the sun, the snow
and rain. All the damage the
elements do is in removing the
protective covering of paint, clear¬
ing off the paint and exposing the
surface. The quality of the paint
is of the .utmost importance—good
paint covers well and endures lots
of weather buffeting.
Outside and inside a well painted
house testifies to its perfect state
of preservation—painted wood can¬
not rot. Keeping up appearance
pays especially when it applies to
building or equipment that must
stand the wear and tear of varying
weather.
That Spring urge to paint is more
than the pride of good appearance,
it is the very instinct of property
preservation. It is insurance
against property depreciation. Out¬
side and inside, a well painted
house testifies to a perfect state of
preservation, and keeping up ap¬
pearance pays a good profit in
increased value
Paint, and the preservation of
property problem is solved by
Lampton’s paint which is handled
right here in________________________
