A Chicken Six Years in a Wei!!

Last Friday Jeff Stokes was
cleaning out an old well for Geo.
Fulgum, who resides near Mor
ganvilie. After reaching a depth
of about ten or twelve feet Mr.
Stokes was surprised to t nd a
chicken in a remarkable state of
preservation. Six years ago the
well caved :n upon the chicken,
but time had not unfitted it for the
table, if appearances count lor any
thing.'The feathers were unruf
fled and the meat looked as fresh
as if it had only been killed. How
ever, exposure to the air
turned the meat black, which be
trayed the fact that by some secret
process of nature unknown to the
embalming art, bodies may be pre
served for an unknown length of
time
