DEPOT BURGLAR.
IZ£D.
Thursday night of last week a
iH'gro broke a glass out of a win
dow in the Sulphur Springs depot
and took therefrom a bretch-load
ing shot gun worth about $25, be
!ong,ng to Joe White the agent at
that place. The shot gun was
pawned to the marshal at Rising
Fawn for two dollars. On Friday
Bob Thurman arrested the negro
at this place and turned him over
to Marshal Cooper who took him
to Risii g Fawn where his trial
came off and he was committed to
jail.
The negro says he “accidentally
lea r ed against the window and
broke it, saw the gun and reached
in and got it ” The indifferent
burglar will hoard with Sheriff
Byrd until tne next term of Su
perior court. In connection with
this case we give below an illus
tration ofthe manner in which
are caught in this coun
try. Eighteen hours after the
burglar had been arrested the
Chat fanooga Times said the Ris
ing Faw i depot had been burglar
ized of a SIOO shot gun and “sever
al other valuable arfic'es,” and
that “Sheriff By:d, of Dade coun
ty tracked him to this city (Chat
tanooga) but lias not yet captured
him.” On Saturday'after the ne
gro had been tried and committed
to jail Marshal Cdoper received a
telegram from the marshal of Ft.
Pavne stating that he had his man
in jail and to come and get him.
From Rising Fawn.
