REMAINS OF INFANT FROM
MACON BURIED AT BLACK
SPRING
The remains of James Thomas
Harris, Jr., the two-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Harris,
of Macon, were brought here Mon
day morning and buried at Black
Springs church.
The child was standing in front of
an open grate, when his clothing be
came ignited, and his body was
frightfully burned.
Pneumonia developed while doctors
were treating the injuries, and this
was the immediate cause of the
death.
The monthly preaching services
will be held at Harmony Baptist
church Sunday February 12th. Pas
tor Mills will preach from this text,
“What mean ye by these stones?"
Everybody is urged to come.

A questionnaire was went to 1,000
presentative firm- the other day in
regard to a new calendar of thirteen
28 day months.
George Eastman, head of the East-
un Kodak Company, sent out a
statement after the meeting of the
United States Chamber of Com
merce, which endorsed the move
ment, in which he says that the new
calendar will consist of weeks in
which every day of the month falls
upon the same week day.
This plan wil probably receive the
upport of the League of Nations
each nation to ratify the proposal.
This is B valiant struggle of com
mon sense against tradition and its
outcome will be looked upon with
interest.
This plan for the new calendar not
only would make every date fall on
the same day of the week in each
month, but, as this would only re
sult in 364 days, New Year’s Day
would be a holiday and called Janu
ary 0. Also the extra day for Leap
Year would be designated by a cipher
and a new month would be inserted
between June and July. This month
would be called Sol because it would
contain the solstice in both the North
ern and Southern hemispheres.
Even if every nation accepts the
new calendar it can only be put in
effect after 1928, when New Year’s
Day falls on Sunday. After that
date, if the new plan is successful, we
should have no more calendars, as it
could be easily told what day of the
week and date is.

Twenty-seven boys from the Geor

The sacrament was given, .and

to partake. Many who were present
declared it to be the most impressive
service they had ever attended.
