OPERA "FAUST** CLOSES MUSIC
WEEK IN BLAZE OF 6LORY
(By Dr. Hunter
With a magnificent presentation
Gounod's Faust music week celebra
tion at Georgia State College for
Women ended. Miss Alice Lenore
Tucker again won high laurels for
her splendid directorship. Towards
the close of the evening she
fered an ovation by the enthusias
tic audience. She held audio
the chorus of four hundred voices
in perfect control throughout the per
formance and persuaded the divine
spirit of music to tarry through the
program.
The chorus was the Sophomore
Normal Class of the college. In
sweetness of tone and volume the
Chorus was most gratifying. The
training of American youth to such
a performance is a nachievement. ar
tistic. patriotic, uplifting.
The presence of a orchestra
led by Mias Beatrice Hosbrugh of
the college faculty greatly embellish
ed the presentation. The Misses Hos
brugh and Christine Cotner present
ed Widor’s Serenade, intermezzo, in ■
an artistic violin duet after the inter-
munion.
The accompanist. Mrs. Wiles Hom
er Allen, was a marvellous help to
the success of the evening. In the
concluding number of the program
the effec was greatly

While it has been the custom for
the churches in Milledgeville to close
their doors on the Sabbath when the

has been n«» adequate plan to guide
the churches as t<* which ones should

The undersigned minister? of the
Protestant churches in Milledgevill-
have adopted a plan which, in their
estimation, will enable them to solve
a problem which will direct them,
und at the same time will have no
effect upon the custom of closing for
the services at the two colleges. The
plan is that the church represented
by the minister who preaches at
either college to c’ose its doors on
the Sabbath of that particular ser
