Mrs. Tanner was Miss Mamie L.
Brake, n daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. B. H. Brake, of Green j &
county, and was married to Mr. Tan-.
ner in early womanhood. She made
him a loving and devoted wife, and
for the past four or five years, dur-|
days.

suffering. She met the duties as a
wife and mother with devotion and
tenderness.
She is survived by her husband and
ro children, Mrs. Leila M. Ray, and
Alvin L. Tanner, two grandchildren,
one brother, Mr. T. M. Brake, and
one sister, Mm Claud Tanner, and
several half brothers and sisters,
among whom are Mrs. Lena Dozier
of thie city.
The sympathy ol our people have
gone out to Mr. Tanner and the
others, who have been bereaved
suddenly and sadly.

Mr. G. D. Myrick is convalescing
after an illnesa of several days at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. S.
Wynn.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. King attended
the wedding of Miss Margurite Burns
and Mr. J. T. King, Jr., in Carrollton
last Thursday.
Midshipman Robert Taylor, of the
United States Naval Academy is
spending the holidays with his par

Hardwick.
Col. and Mrs. C. B. McCullar and

Sunday morning. The tree contain

presented a scene of rare lovliness.
Mr. and Mm Sim Wright, of
Staunton, Va., arrived Christmas day
to spend the holidays with Mrs.
Wright’s parents. Dr. and Mrs. J. L.
Beeson. Mrs. Wright will spend a
month here, Mr. Wright returning to
Virginia this week.
