Mr. Miller S. Bell in acceptmg in , titution ^ her<?
the election .as president of the body
voicid the keynote of success. He
stated that it will take the co-opera
tion of every person in the city. It
wilt take that ard nothing less. We
cannot move forward with part of the
team hitched to another cart.
“Let bygones be bygones" stated
Mr. Bell.” I forgive and forget and
ark the wholehearted influence and
help of the people here if I take this
office" The«e words coming from
Mr. Bell mean a great deal and will
do more to cement the co-operative
spirit than .anything that has been
said in some time.
Mr. Bell ha ability, he has fore
sight a id while he ha* represented
what i« so called a political faction,
differirg sharply with .another group,
he can do much for the city’s ad
vancement industrially and aid ma
terially in community loyalty.
Th: 1 meeting M<yn|ty did much
good. It was worth a great deal to
Milledgeville. We are facing a new
era through which w e can pass to
greater prosperity or we can remain
to drng along with the usual small
town in Georgia. Out of that meet
ing can grow a great civic organiza
tion that can help every person in
Milledg* ville, but we must put our
should* rs t the wheel to move for
ward.
The Union Recrrder has stated
repeatedly that it has no
grind, no enemies to punish, it, whole
spirit and being is interest.-d in
g - * »t Milledgeville. To do this
it has filt that man ythings must be
done and one of them was just the
thing that happened Monday night,
seal together the division tha* has
existed for many years. There is no
need to ar».ue this further, the Un
ion Recorder believes the Milledge-
ville people have joined together in
good faith and will work harmonious
ly so long as the leaders will keep
their faith.
The Union Recorder, an institution
that ha - devoted many years of
vice to this city and county
now is wholeheartedly first and mat
working for that, which is best for
u*. stands to day -os it alway-. ha* for
n grentir Milledgeville. We pledge
a continuance of this effort to pro
mote the civic welfare of our people.
E’-ery c’tixen should ta v . the ati-
tude of co-operatwenc ns *«nd do his
share to move Milledgeville forward.
