President Hoover Gives Re
cognition to Efficiency and
Economy of the Railroads
During the year about to close the railroads have rendered the
.best service in their history, and this at costs to the public uniform
ly lower than in recent years. Recognition of the improved service
nnd reduced chnrges of the railroads was made by the President of
the United States in bis recent message to Congress. President
“A.x a whole, the railroads never were In such good
physical’and financial condition, and the country has never
been s.o well served by them. The greatest volume of
freight traffic ever tendered is being carried at a speed
never before attained and with satisfaction to the shippers.
Efficiencies and new nut nods have resulted in reduction
in the cost of providing, freight transportation, and freight
rates rhow* n continuous descending line from the level
enforced by the World War,**
The Central of Georgia is of course gratified ot tribute from
such u high source to the economy und efficiency of railroad
service. The co-operation and friendly support of the public have
been important factors in bringing about the improvement of which
the President speaks.
With the approach of Christmas and the New Year, the Central
