How the Railroads Help
Business Recovery'
Thu first weeks of 1930 have recorded improved and encourag
ing business conditions m the Southeast and throughout the country.
This situation strengthens confidence in the economic stability of
the United State?.
The railroads are an important factor in keeping business on
an even keej. The increased speed and dependability of fright
transportation have made it pcssible' within the last six years to
gratly cut down niventoriei. It is no longer necessary to tie up
capital by dead investment in large stocks. This means less interest
charges, less insurance premiums, and quicker turnover. Commerce
ha bec-n speeded up, and th cost of doing business hsa b«n reduced.
The railroads, in addition to currying the country's commerce,
are targe pare haters of materials and supplies and targe employers
of tabor. They are going ahead with program of lm peer errant
during 1930. They are the shock absorbers of the nation.
The Central of Georgia is continually improving Ha fa ilitir,
and increasing its efficiency so the shipping and traveling public
may have the highest standard of aervice.
Constructive criticism aid suggsetions are invited.
A. E. CLIFT,
President, Central of Georgia Railway Company.
Savannah, Ga, February 11, 1930.
