the hospital in this city Tuesday
morning. He is getting along well.
Mrs. Ribcit Bloodworth of Macon,
is in the city having been called here
on account of the illness of her
brother, Mr. Chus Gibson.

Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Penuel enter
tained most delightfully on Irst Sat
urday evening at bridge at their home
at the State Hospital.
Tables were arranged for twelve
guests who enjoyed several games of
bridge before delicious refrshmnts
were served. Vases of beautifql
jonquils (were gnacdfully arranged
in the rooms where the games were
played. Tallies typical of the val
entine season were used.
Mr. Joe Andrews was awarded high
score and Mr. Leon Calaway conso
lation.

On next Wednesday afternoon the
Parent Teachers Association will
base a benefit bridge and rook party
at the home of Mrs. N. P. Walker at
the State Sanitarium. Phone reserva
tions to Mrs. Walker.
On last Friday afternoon, Mrs. Ed.
Darrawr, Superintendsnt of the Jun
ior Department of the Methodist S.
S., and the teachers in thj depart
ment were hostesses to a lovely
Valentine party for the boys and
girls in the Junior Department.
The junior rooms were decorated
in red and white paper streamers
and red hearts. Many games center
ing around the Valent’ne idea were
played and small Valentines were
given as favors. Lilly cups topped
with tiny red candy hearts .and heart
shaped cookies were served at the
conclusion of the afternoon.

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN ENJOY
ANNUAL VALENTINE ARTY.
A delightful party of the pa t
week was the annual Valentine party
for the women of the Presbyterian
church which was held at the Man
sion, the home of Mrs. J. L. Beeson.
Decorations carrying out the Val
entine idea were used through out
'tye spacious rooms. Mm. George
Carpenter and Mrs. J. O. Sallee had
arranged a mort interesting program.
Mrs. John Shinholster sang a delight
ful solo, Miss Theresa Pyle* with
several whistling numbers had a
gracious part on the program. Mrs.
Goorgc Carpenter and. Mr . Sallee
gave several readings and Mrs. Ber
tha Eiliott played « piano'solo.'
The custom was origniated several
years ago by Mrs. C. P. Crawford
and has become an annual event.
Each lady who attends brings a dol
lar with a little verse telling how the
made it. Delicious refreshments
