Cable* of Coart House Clock Broak.
The Hand* Stand Still and Its
Voice I* Huabed
The cables on the clock on
steeple of the court house broke
Thursday of the past week, and the
hands on the dial showed the hour
as twenty minutes past three for sev
eral days.
This clock is the only public time
keeper in the city, and the fact that
it had ‘topped running caused much
notice and comment, and caused
Many questions concerning the why*
and wherefores to be asked Mr. J.
C. Grant, whose duty it is too keep
the clock in order and to see that it
keeps correct time.
The cables that broke had been in
use forty-five years, and it was time
they gave way to wear and tear.
Mr. Grant immediately placed ord
ers for new cables and as soon .as
they arirve the damage will be
remedied and the clock will again
tell the time.
