expected that the first of them will
be passed upon within the next few
days. Under the laws of the state
of Georgia the a-uocialion can make
loans only on improved real estate in
the county of Habersham. It is ex
pected that pcrference will be given
to those providing for the building
of new homes and tlv? remodeling
of old ones. Borrowers from the as
sociation are permitted to pay off
loanR in small monthly installments
with interest at the legal rate.
The savings feature appeals parti
cularly to local people as amounts 1
as small as fifty cents per month
may be invested and will begin im
mediately to share in the annual
eamines. Expense of operation is
limited by tse laws of Georgia to
one per cent of the business done,
and all funds are invested in wcll-
s••cured loans which will go to help
build up the local communities, ex
cept in such instances as thtere may
oe a temporary surplus on hand for
investment when the state law pro
vides that it must be used for the;
purchase of state bonds or govern
ment bonds.
