Despite the fact that the -a
chain letters" arc a Violation of
postal laws, the tad continues to h.
popular in tnir section and mam
people are receiving the request, '
ten cents.
The first letters began coming
Miljedgeville over two weeks a
and the past week the number
creased rapidly and many people
were receiving as many as a dozen
a day. The price of the letters haj
increased and some of them are
asking for one dollar. A chain tele,
gram worth five dollars was receive*
by a number of people during the
week.
Dr. E. A. Hgner, post master, hai
issued a warning from the postal
department declaring the letters an
a violation of the law and the send-
ers are open to prosecution. It is
ported the fad has become a racket
and people answering them are not
likely to receive anything in return
A number of the early senders have
received a few dimes.
