Favorite Recipes

1 cup flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon butter or butter sub
stitute.
1-2 cup milk
1-4 teaspoon salt
1-2 cup grated cheese
Method:
Sift flour, measure sift again, with
Baking Powder and salt, work to
gether butter or substitute add
cheese with the ary ingredients using
two spatulas or tips of fingers. Mix
auickly and lightly. Drop by tea
spoon on well oiled baking sheets.
Bake in hot oven (450 degrees F.) 12
minutes.
Mock Chicken Salad
2 cups cooked (boiled) Rabbit, cut
in small pieces.
1 cup celery also cut in small
P j-2 cup pecans, chopped
Mayonnaise dressing
Method:
Parboil Rabbit, cooking it until
tender. Season highly, mix Rabbtt,
celery and pecans. Moisten with
mayonnaise and aarra on lettuc
leaf.
Yon-Tun Gems
1-2 cup crisco or any butter sub
stitute.
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup sour milk
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup raisins
1-2 cup nuts
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg and
cloves.
Method:
Cream crisco. mix thoroughly with
brown sugar. Add egg, dissolve soda
in milk, add to above mixture. Sift
flour, measure, sift together flour,
salt and spices, then stir dry in-
-redients in first mixture just
enough to mix well. Add raisins and
nuts. Fill muffin rings about half
full and bake in moderate oven.

"Italian Delight”
1-2 lb. spaghetti
1-2 lb round steak
1 cup canned com
Tomato sauce or tomato soup with
cayenne, paprika and Worcestershire
sauce to season.
1 small onion
1 bell pepper
1 1-2 teaspoon salt
Grated cheese
Cook spaghetti in boiling water.
Chop onion and pepper and fry in
bacon drippings ”ntil golden brown
Add sauce or soup season. When
well heated stir in cheese until
melted .then add spaghetti and com
and lastly ground steak thinned with
water to prevent lumping. Stir over
fire five minutes. Turn into baking
dish with little grated cheese over
top. Bake in moderate oven for 30
minutes.
"Angel Ginger Bread”
1-2 cup sugar
1-4 cup molasses
1-4 cup shortening (measure af
ter melted).
1 egg
1 1-8 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
Mix sugar, molasses, egg and melt
ed shortening, bift dry ingredients.
This makes about a pint of syrup
and it keeps indefinitely without get
ting grainy or going back to sugar.

Stuffed tomatoes with macaroni
and cheese.
8 large firm tomatoes
1 1-2 cup elbow macaroni
1 1-2 qt. boiling water
2 cups flour (sifted before measur
ing.)
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons shortening
2-3 cup milk or water
2-3 cup grated cheese
Sift flour again with baking pow-
der and salt Cut in shortening and
cheese with knife until well blended.
Add milk or water to moke a stiff
dough. Roll on floured bread board
1-2 Inch thick, cut with small size
biscuit cutter and bake In 450 de
gree oven 12 to 15 minutes. These
are fine served hot with grape or
currant Jelly. Also good with green

16 Graham crackers
1-4 cup water
1-4 Pkg. Dates
1-4 cup nuts
3-4 cup cream
(Method)
Cook dates and water until a
paste. Add nuts and Marshmellows.
Whip 1-4 cup cream. Spread on
cracker, spread layer date paste on
cream, repeat until a layer of flour
have been made. Set for four hours,
cut each pile length wise, cover or
ice with remainder of cream, place
cherry on top. (This serves 8).

SPANISH CHICKEN

pounds prepared for frying.
Season with salt, pepper and roll
in flour. Brown on all sides in hot

325 to 350 degrees. Allow to cool,
then remove from the pans and fill
Pineapple Filling
1 cupful of whipping cream
1 1-2 tablespoons of powdered
1 cupful of crushed pineapple,
drained.
1-4 teaspoonful of vanilla
Place one layer, meringue side
down, on a cake plate. Whip cream
odd powdered sugar, pineapple and
vanilla. Spread this filling on first
layer. Then place the other layer
top of the pineapple filling,
meringue side up.
(This cake is betten when eaten

Make a cake batter of
1-2 cup fugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons soft shortening
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 1-2 cups flour
1 1-2 teaspons baking powder
1-4 cup milk
Beat sugar, egg and fat together,
Alternately add sifted flour and

3 cups pitted sour cherries

Potato Apples
2 cups hot need potatoes
2 tablespoonsfuls of butter
1-3 cup of grated cheese
1-2 teaspoonful of salt
A pinch of nutmeg
A few grains of cayene pepper
2 tablespoonfuls of heavy cream
2 egg yolks
Mix ingredients and whip until
light. Shape in form of small apples.
Roll in Dour. Dip In tu
in bread crumbs. Fry in deep fat.
Drain on brown paper. Insert cloves
at stem and blossom end.

1-2 cup fine yellow corn meal
3 tablespoons cC shortening
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 compressed yeast cake
1 teaspoon salt
1-4 cup warm water
2 cups of mi'k
2 eggs slightly beaten
3-4 cups all purpose flour
Mix the corn meal, suear and salt
in a double boiler add the milk and
stir until smooth. Add the shorten
ing and cook over boiling water un
til thick, stirring constantly to pre
vent lumping. Cover and cook 20
minutes. Then remove and cool mix
