ST. SIMONS ISLAND
A group of young people returned
Sunday from St. Simons Island
where they spent ten days on a
house party. Among those enjoying
the party were: Misses Inez Cole
man, Louise Alford, Ollie Mae Ten-
nille, Messrs Marvin Cheney, Archie
Holton. Aaron Reuben, Roger Law-
son, Mr. and Mrs. William Tennille
and Mrs. W. D. Adams.
Enroute home the party visited
Savannah for a day.
FIRST COTTON BOWL IS SHOWN
The first fully developed cotton
boll of the 1935 season was shown
this week by Mr C. E. Smith,
manager of the C. E. Smith Gin and
Feed Co.
Mr. Smith operates a large farm
in West Baldwin and has a field of
Stoneville No. 2 cotton. The cotton
planted early and worked rapid
ly with plenty of fertilizer. Several
acres are heavily fruited and Mr.
Smith expects to pick out a bale of
cotton in late July or early August.
COUNTY-COMMISSIONERS MET
The County Commissioners held
their regular meeting on Tuesday at
the Court House. The board dis
cussed a number of matters pei-
taining to the roads and other im
provements in the county, but the
only matters of business transacted
were routine.
Rev. W. C. Budd, pastor of the
Hardwick Methodist church, has or
ganized a base ball teem in Hard
wick and is anxious to get games
with the neighboring towns. The

issued to any team in this section
composed of boys of this age.
Gary Hollsenbeck. infant son of
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Holsenbeck, died
Wednesday morning and funeral
ces will be held at the grave
side in the_city cemetery Thursday
