FAMILIES HAVE SAVED
HOMES THROUGH HOLC

Georgia State Manager. Home Ownn

Georgia News Service.
The work of making loans
Georgia home owners by the Home
Owners' Loan Corporation is
almost completed. Within three
months time, the Corporation should
definitely handle to a conclusion all
old applications on hand, and the
one thousand, three hundred thirty-
seven new applications recently
taken n acordance with the late
amendment to ihe Home Owners’
Loan Act.
The main business of the Corpora
tion now v 1 be to collect the thirty
million (32,000,000) dollars
which it has loaned to'the various
home owners for the purpose of re
financing their mortgages, liens,
taxes, and for Repairing and recon
ditioning their property.
Something over 14,000 families in
Georgia have found, in the Home
Owners' Loan Corporation, the
__ ^ m ^ means of saving their homes. It is
purposo ’of building, " eonirtrurting' earnestly hoped and expected that
maintaining and operating a system these families will bend every effort
to meet the required payments on
their indebtedness. For the most part
HOLC loans have afforded a longer
period of time in which to pay the
loan as well as a efieaper interest
rate.
Home Owners ^ho have obtained
loans through the Home Owners’ |
Loan Corporation and fail to keep I
up their payments, when they are
able to do so. may expect only one |

the home that the Corporation has,
attempted to save.
Families Should Budget
A great many families have nevei
realized the importance or a Budget
System. Our Field Representatives
,ve been carefully chosen and they
•e considerate, painstaking and
.. mpathetic. They will be delighted,
when calling upon delinquent home
o sit down with them and
discuss their problems.
We have a monthly income budget
form that should appeal to all of our
borrowers, and will be glad to fum- j
ish copies upon request.
After carefully working out a
monthly income budget, it may sur-,

Cr. Lewis presiding.
The Grand Jury was organized by
the selection of Mr. R. W. Hatcher
Us foreman.
The old Presbyterian church
building was ‘■old at public out-cry
last Tuesday. It was purchased by
Mayor Julius A. Home, chairman
of the barracks committee of the G.
M. College. The price paid was
$400.
Tuesday was the Fourth of July.
In the morning policeman S. S.
Terry circulated a request signed
ofifcially J>y Mayor Horne, request
ing the merchants and business men
of the city to close their places of
business at 3:00 o'clock. When the
officer had gone the rounds the name
of every merchant had been se
cured and promptly at 3:00 o’clock
the stores were closed.
Messrs. M. S. Bell and A. A.
Haynes realized that the people of
this city wanted a game of ball. At
eleven o’clock they telephoned to
Sparta to see if it was possible to get
a team from that city to come over.
They agreed to come.

lined. it wil Result in much future
happiness for the many home own
ers who have secured loans through
the Home Owner's Loan Corpora
tion.
Meet Payments
The Home Owners’ Loan Corpora
tion in Georgia has been a tremend
ous success. To make it a complete
success, the home owners must bend
every effort to meet their required
payments. I am sure all of the bor
rowers appreciate the fact that they
have saved their homes and it now
behooves them to show their ap
preciation by their continued hearty
co-operation with the Collection De
partment.
The small number of new appli
cations received is a sign of improve
ment in general conditions, and al
so an indication that the home loan
distress has been largely taken rare
of within our State. It further indi
cates that the Federal Savings and
T<oan Associations and other regu
lar lending agencies have ample
Vnds and are using them for the
purpose of making loans which can
he repaid monthly over a period of
years.
