Last Friday, Mr. J. W. Ennis, who
resides in East Baldwin, plowed up
a large white rat. The rats that
generally burrow in the ground are
large grey ones and the white
rat was considered a curiosity. The
animal was captured and put into
a box it died Saturday.
Mr. L. E. Wright, of Midway, has
purchased a fine pair of horses
and a nice carriage and put
hack line in this city.
Messrs. Kidd and Hatcher, who
recently purchased the Robert's
store lot, have determined to erect
a nice three story building. The
building will be modern and up-to-
date, and will be one of the
handsomest in the city.
Mr. D. S. Sanford, tax collector of
Baldwin, has moved the entrance
to his Office on Wilkinson street op
posite the court house.
Judge W. H. Stembridge was kept
busy Saturday paying out money to
the pensioners of Baldwin county
The total amount received and dis
bursed is $5,245.
Mr. Henry Goodman has purchas
ed from Mr. J. E. Kidd the cottage
on Jefferson street in which Prof.
K. T. Alfriend now resides.
Miss Jule Trippe has lelumed to
Covington after a visit to Mrs. W.
. Bennett.
Mrs. Georgia Finney entertained a

entertained by Mrs. Adolph Joseph
at her elegant home on last Thurs
day afternoon. The beautiful weath
er added to the charm of the event
and a largo gathering of friends
along with the Hill Club spent a
most delightful afternoon. Trail was
played, after which dainty refresh-
