OBITUARY.
; Chart.ks Demurest Schoon maker, whose sudden and
[ unexpected death, on Friday morning, 18th inst., by an un
; foreseen accident upon the Muscogee Railroad, threw a j
j gloom over this entire community, was born at Flat Bush,
i Long Island, in {September 1826. He possessed a mechani- !
I cal genius of a very high order, and no mean poetical tal
j ents, and if he had lived to mature his plans and concentrate
; his energies, lie would doubtless have attained a high place
iin the republic ot letters. Thrown in very early lire upon j
j his own resources, he entered boldly upon the struggle, a I
! boy in years but a man in resolution,'and by the force of his j
own character, unaided by any fortuitous circumstances, at
tained a high position in his profession. He had not long
been a resident in this community, but Ins bland manners, ,
genial humor, and bright and sparkling intell tet, had en- J
scared him to all who had the pleasure of ma ting his ac- j

tie leaves a widowed mother to mourn his Jo. ein H7Yiar T
off home ; but it will be a consolation to her to know that ’
he cherished her memory in his heart of hearts and lived
only that he might bless her, and that every respect was i
paid to his remains, not only by his relatives here, who ‘
fondly loved him, but by the Masonic Order of which he j
was an honored member, and by this entire community.

j had been partially shaved before I bought him, and the hair is j
