THREE DAYS LATER FROM EUROPE. ARRIVAL OF THE ARABIA. Cotton Declined New York, Oct. 6. Tile British steamship Arabia arrived here to-day, with Liverfiool dates to the 24th Sept., being three days later than the aceo’ints brought by the Baltic. The sales of the week comprise 25,000 bales. The quotations are as follows : Fair Orleans <s| ; Middling Orleans 7| ; Fair Uplands 6? ; and Middling Uplands 5Jd. The demand was moderate and prices had declined one-eighth of a penny. Speculators took 2,000 and exporters 3000 bales. The trade in the manufacturing districts had slightly de clined. Flour and Rice were active, but prices remained un • ! changed. Money Market. —The rate of interest in the Londou market continued unchanged. Consols had declined. Difficulty between an Amerioan Captain and the Pe ruvian Authorities. Baltimore, Oct. 5. A difficulty has occurred at Chincha, between the Ame rican ship Defiance and the Peruvian authorities. The Captain of the Defiance was forcibly taken from his ves sel and chained by the feet on board the Peruvian Ouard Ship. It was reported that he was dying from the ill treatment he had received. More Geld. The steamship Crescent City arrived t New York on Tuesday night, with $1,000,000 in gold. Syracuse Whig Convention. The Whig Convention met at Syracuse on Wednesday, Washington Hunt, presiding. J. M. Cook was nomina ted for Comptroller, and Ogden Hoffman for Attorney General. Great* Fire in Buffalo. A great fire occurred in Buffalo which hits consumed one hundred houses, involving a loss of $300,000. The Wilkesbarre, Pa., Fugitive Slave Case. Considerable exoiteinent exists in Philadelphia in con- j sequence of warrants having been served upon two Uni - ; ted Suites Deputy Marshals for an alleged assault com’ 1 milted whilst arreotiug recently a fugitive slave at Wilkes- ; barre, Pa. A writ of Habeas Corpus was applied for j before Judge Grier, and the Attorney General applied for ; the discharge of the prisoners. Au adjournment of the j ease, however, for one week was agreed to for the purpose of procuring witnesses. Progress of the Epidemic. New Orleans, Oct. 4. The interments in New Orleans on Monday of par ties who had died from yellow fever were only fi. The Board of Health lias discontinued the daily reports, con sidering that the epidemic is now over.
