At the residence of Mark Johnston, Esq., in Hancock countv, on the 31st nlt., his wife, Mrs. Juvebma Rose Johnston, aged uventy-nine yeats. In the dispensation of an All-wise Providence which ear ned away the deceased from so many objects of love and care, many a*heart mourns. Her strong intellect had availed itself of the unusually favorable opportunities of cultivation it had enjoyed, and was well store*) with the treasures of use ful knowledge. Though naturally retiring and taciturn, her amiable deportment imparted to Iter society a charm v. hich cannot be forgotten. True and faithful she was in every relation ot life, all of w hose duties she was prompt to perform ; remembering her creator in the’days of her youth. Religion came “To w ean her horn the world, To turn her eye from vanity, And point to scenes of bliss that never, never die.” About two years ago she connected herself with the Methodist church, and her walk and conversation were in harmony with the precepts oftlie Gospel. Jn the morning of life the messenger of death appeared, and though her health and youth and hope “.Might look like things too glorku’- to decay.” She failed and died. Yet she knew whom she had trusted.
