Homicide at Columbia.
On last Wednesday Jesse Granger was
deputized to go and arrest one Dlek Hen
derson, colored. Granger leit town under
the Influence of whisky, and when he
came up to Dick he said: "Dlek you are
my prisoner,” at the same time present
ing a pistol, when he shot the prisoner,
and he died in a few minutes. Granger
was arrested and brought to town, and In
the preliminary trial he pleaded that it
was accidental. After hearing ail the ev
idence, Thos. Armstrong, Esq., refused
him ball, and he (Granger) was sent to
Abbeville to await the action of the grand
jury. The wnole thing la a sad affair, and
we regret that such a thing should occur
to blight the good name ot any commu

Is brought to bear to prevent the repeti

A QUESTION ABOUT
Browns Iron
Bitters
ANSWERED.
The question has probably been asked thousands
of times ‘ How can Brown’s Iron Bitters cure every
thing?" Well, it doesn’t. But it does cure any disease
for which a reputable pi... si .’ian would prescribe IKON
Physicians recognize Iron as the best restorative
agent known to the profession, and inciuiry of any
leading chemical firm will substantiate the assertion
that there are more preparations of iron than of any
other substance used in medicine. This shows con
clusively that iron is acknowledged to tie the most
important factor in successful medical practice. It is,
however, a remarkable fact, thatprior to the discov
ery of HROWN’SIRON BITTERS no perfect
ly satisfactory iron combination had ever beeu found.

minute. Like all other thorough medicines, it acts
slowly. When taken by men the first symptom of
benefit is renewed energy. The muscles then become
firmer, the digestion improves, the bowels are active.
In momen the effect is usually more rapid and marked.
The eyes begin at once to brighten: the skin clears
up; healthy color comes to the cheeks: nervousness
disappears; functional derangements become regu
lar. and if a nursing mother, abundant sustenance
is supplied for the child. Remember Brown’s Iron
Bitters is the ONLY' iron medicine that is not in
