Dear Sir:—l send you this to certify to you that your Ex
tract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has performed one ol
the most wonderful cures ou me that has ever been effected on
m <n.
i have been afflicted for forty years with eruptions on *my
legs and feet; in 1848 they got so bad that 1 ’’rad to go on
crutches, and In 1849 i had one leg amputated above the knee.
In about nine months after my other legjbroke out in largo
eating and running sores from my knee to my foot, and dis
charged a great deal of offensive matter. My groin also broke
outin large biles, which discharged much offensive matter, and
at toe same time my lefthand broke out in large running sores
nearly to my elbow.
The misery that I have suffered for the last two years I can
not describe to jou. 1 was in such agony that I never rested
day or night.
In October last my son brought me one of your bottle wrap
pers; I read it, and found Jrecord of some wonderful cures
performed hy your “Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla”
l sent and got two bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In
two weeks, to ray great astonishment, my soreE all became ea
sy,and I could sleep all night, a thing 1 bad not done lortwo
years* When 1 had taken six bottles, my sores had nearly all
healed. My sores got well as if by enchantment. I have now
used in all eight bottles ot your “Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla,” and now consider myself well.
1 entreat all of the affleited to try this medicine, fori believe
it will cure any known disease in the world. Lay aside all
prejudice and just try it, and proclaim |its great worih to
suffering mankind and entreat them to take it, for it will cure
them.
tfftMy case is well known in a large portion of South Carolina,
Georgia snd Alabama, and if any should doubt the above
cure,l invite them to'call ob me, aud I will show them the
scars, i can he found in Tallapoosa County Alabama, one
mile from Stoc’s Ferry.
RENAJAH HUGHES.
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly adapted for
females of delicate health, resulting from irregularity of men
strual discharges, and other dieases peculiar to their sex. —
The proprietor has in his possession of • a great number of cer

assure the aflbcteu, that a bottle or two of Dr. Guysott’s Ex

[Extractof a letter received from Rev. B. C. Thomas.}
Tavoy, November 18, 1853.
Messrs. P. Davis Son —Dear Sirs: ****The Karens
have no more confidence in the charms of their ancestors-
They desire rational remedies for the sick. By various
means, principally through the agency of the Rev. D. L.
Brayton, these Karen people have become acquainted with
your medicine, and their demand for it is to me very sur
prising. ...
I now have by me orders for more than fifty bottles, but
I have not got one bottle; 1 therefore wish you to send me
a quantity, and I will pay you through the tieasurer of the
Missionary Union. I hope we shall be favored with some
of it as soon las possible. There is no medicine which
stands so high in the estimation of the Karens of these pro
vinces aßthe Pain Killer, and I feel willing to gratify them,
as I entertain a very high opinion of its worth.
B. C. THOMAS.
Providence, R. 1., July 7,1851.
Messrs. Perry Davis &. Son: Gents—Before 1 left Mer
gui, both Karens and Burmans had fouitd out the value of
your Pain Killer, and I could readily have disposed of a
large quantity of it among them. It seems particularly
efficacious in cholera morbus, bowel complaints, and oth
er diseases, to which the natives ‘ot Burmah, from their
unwholesome style of living, are particularly exposed. It
is a valuble antidote to the poison of centipedes, scorpions,
hornets and the like. I have been twice stung by scorpions
and in both cases eased the most excruciating pain, and en
tirely prevented the swelling by applying the Pain Killer.
On our voyage homeward from India, tne Captain of the
ship waß taken with vomiting and purging and other
symptoms ol cholera. I gave him a good dose of Pain
Killer with the most immediate and happy results. So en
tire and speedy was the relief, that he assured me he
would never again go a voyage without your excellent
medicine, if he possibly could procure it.
Respectfully yours.
Rev. J. BENJAMIN,
Late Missionary to Burmah.
Calcutta, Nov. 4, 1853.
Messrs. Perry Davis Son: Dear Sirs—Confirming
my respects of the 4th ult., (duplicates herewith) I find it
necessary to address you again, as my most sanguine ex
pectionshave been more than realized. The call for your
valuable medicine is increasing so very rapidly that I fear
I shall soon be unable to keep pace with it, as I have only
about one hundred bottles of the supply per Union on

me another package, of which, however, I have not yet

TIIIS Medicineis prepared hy a regular bred Southern Phy
sician who lias practiced his profession for :he last eight
een years in the State of Alabama. It will be tound upon a
fair trial to be the most prompt and effectual remedy for all
diseasesot the Cukst and Li nos ever discovered, and when
every other remedy fails this Is sure to give relief.
The greatest care has been taken in its preparation, being
compounded on the most scientific principles, in its composi
tion is embraced a combination of the most valuable and effec
tive Expectorants, Anodynes and Sedatives which are known to
possess the highest repute with all intelligent members ol the
Meaicul Profession .
No fuct can he more self evident than that this preparation
has already acquired high reputation and great popularity
wherever it has been introduced. Assuming no extraordina
ry pretensions, but relying solely upon itsown intrinsic virtues,
this valuable medicine, invented aud prepared hy an experi
enced. Southern Physician after many years of practical inves
tigation and application, has at length seemed the most un
limited confidence, whererer it has been introduced, as acer
tain remedial agßnt in all diseases of the respiratory organs.
If the unsolicited testimony of skillful physicians, profound
lawyers, and eminent divines, together with others of high
character, learning and discrimination, can be any evidence of
its intrinsic superiority, certainly it has a claim upon the gen
erous confidence of an enlightened and discriminating com
munity. A train of diseases so desolating, so withering, so
general and fatal in their results, has at length met with a rem
edy that mkver fails to core, unless by long ami criminal
neglect or injudicious treatment the disease has completely un
dermined theconstitution, and nothing has been left to rear
the fair fabric of health upon, hut its ruined and desolated frag
ments.
A remedy therefore! that can berelied |upon,?STHAT will
yielh immediate relief, that will cure beyond a doubt,if
the directions are faithfully followed, is priceless, forhealth is
paramount to all earthly considerations, and by far the m ist
inestimable treasurethis world can afford. I)r. Boon, a dis
tinguished physician of Macon, Ga., says, “that in every in
stance he has found this preparation a sale and prompt reme
dy for all pulmonarv diseases, and takes pleasure in recom
mending it as a reliable anodyne expectorant.” Dr.-Tennant,
of Marietta, Ga., a physician of decidedly high reputation as
au able and experienced practitioner, < iterta.ns and expresses
the same opinion, and recommends it extensively in his prac
tice. Dr. P.M.Cohen, of uhar eston, S. C., the senior partner
in the extersive Wholesale and Importing Drug House of P.
M. Cohen St Cos., recommendsit in the highest terms, and says
this preparation has the highest character in that city, and that
he usee it altogether in his family with invariable success. Dr.
VV. A. Booth,of Memphis, Tenn., expresses the most exalted
opinion of its efficacy. Dr. J. B, Ellis, of Ripley, Afiss.. re
commends it highly, and prescrihesit extensively in bis practice.
In addition to the above, the inventorand proprietor of this
Medicine has an almost innumerable number of testimonials of
its efficacy and high character, and is daily receiving mote.
