To Our Subscribers.
A recent change in the postal
laws will force us to cut off all
subscribers the first day of April
who are in arrears for one year or
more. This ruling is not ours,
but Uncle Sam's. And he says
he will impose a fine on us if we
violate the law. Now we are per
fectly willing to acco'mmodate
our friends and our subscribers
so long as we can do so with safe
ty to ourselyes. But much as we
may regret it we must cut off all
who owe for the paper as much
as oue year on the first of April.
Statements jwill all
subscribers who are to be;, eff-cted
by this new ruling, and if yon
owe us as much as one dollar and
it is not paid before April Ist,
then the paper (will positively be
discontinued.

WORKS LIKE A CHARM
Two weeks ago a lady inserted a
notice in the News offering a piano
for sale. The paper was placed in
the office for distribution and in
less than half an hour thereafter the
piano was sold, and the lady te and
>tie sd sob|f! 1 i we| Mr.
T. J. Morgan advertised s me land.
The paper went out on the rural
routes Friday morning. Saturday
morning we met Mr. Morgan on
the streets and he told us that pan
of the Und had been sold and tba'
the ad sold it A certain merchant
a Mils place eds us that when be
i La in a i. !ul the sales on Saturday
following are more than double the
amount of sales .-n the same day of
the week when no ad appears.
These are indisputa:. !e facts—facts
whoth speak fa '!>< r,-.selves—facts
that can easily be verified. And
yet, there are those who still con
tend that advertising Joes not pay.
In the book we read of a who
died and down yonder. He
was not at nil favorably impressed
with the climate or the inhabitants.
He remembered lha| he had friends
left behind and did not want them
to go down yonder. So 119 got in
communication with the powers
tha*. be and wanted messengers sent
from the better land to warn his
friends m.t to follow his example.
He was told lhat Moses and the
prophets were in J business with his
friends, and that if they 'would not
hear them, they would not believe
though one rose f rom the dead.
There are none so blind as those
who will not see.
Try an ad in the News. This la
dy told what she had to sell. So
did the man. Specify—particular
ize, itemize—tell what you have,
and let the people know you want
to sell it. Theu keep everlastingly
at it, and it will pay.
