It's Time For 'A Lumpkin
Family Reunion' This Week
The Cold Sassy Players will pres
ent “A Lumpkin Family Reunion"
Thursday, Friday and Saturday at
the Commerce Cultural Center.
Shows will begin at 7:00 nightly
and there will be a matinee perfor
mance Saturday, Nov. 10, at 2:00.
The play a sequel to “A Little Bit
of Country," features the antics of
the family and all of their kin as
they celebrate the Thanksgiving
and Christmas holidays.
Tickets are available at City
Tire & Auto, 1860 North Broad
Street .
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8
for senior citizens and children 10
and younger.
Jackson Creative Plans Pageant
To Raise Money For Relay
Jackson Creative Community
Resource Center will host a “Ms.
Cured for Life" pageant at 7 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 8, at the Commerce
Cultural Center. Proceeds will
benefit the center’s Relay for
Life team. Food vendors will be
at the event.
Applications will be taken
through Dec. 30, and forms are
available from 2 to 4 p.m. week
days at Jackson Creative, 106
Industrial Parkway, Commerce.
Contestants must be over 21,
have a sponsor to pay the $25
entry fee and sell 10 tickets to
the pageant. Contestants need a
formal gown, and make-up art
ists will be available. Each con
testant will receive a free guest
ticket.
A mandatory stage rehearsal
will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb.
1, at Jackson Creative.
Tickets for audience members
will be $7 in advance, $10 at the
door and $30 for a family of five
or more.

Lisa Cole To Marry
Dustin McElreath Nov. 17
Marie Cole of Canon announces
the engagement of her daughter,
Lisa Cole, to Dustin McElreath,
son of Shelia and Kevin Knight
of Athens, and Gerald McElreath
of Hartwell. The bride is also the
daughter of the late Joel Cole, for
merly of Canon.
The wedding will take place at
7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Eras-
tus Christian Church, Commerce.
Friends and family are invited.
Miss Cole is the granddaughter
of the late Pascal and Josephine
Cole and Melvin and Betty Press
ley, Eastanollee.
She is a 2000 graduate of Frank
lin County High School and a
2003 graduate of Athens Techni
cal College with a degree in veteri
nary technology. She is employed
by Merial Limited in Athens.
The groom is the grandson of
Howard and Jean Harris, Com
merce, and the late Ronald Clay
ton Hardman Sr. He is the great-
grandson of Cecile Minish of
Madison County.
Mr. McElreath is a 2002 gradu
ate of Commerce High School.
He is employed by B & G Seed
Company, Hull.
UDC Hears Program On Rail Museum
The monthly meeting of the J.E.B. Stuart Chapter of the United Daugh
ters of the Confederacy met Oct. 13 at the Commerce Public Library.
Local resident and artist Lynda Wilbanks shared her memories of
time spent at the Southern Railways Museum in Kennesaw.
Wilbanks gave an account of the history surrounding the “General," a
Civil War locomotive used in the “War Between the States."
She painted the mural that surrounds the General in the building that
houses it.
To Meet At Library Saturday
The J .E.B. Stuart of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will meet
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Commerce Public Library.
Members will visit local veterans following the meeting in honor of
Veterans Day.
Peachtree Village Offers Fall Festival
Peachtree Village will hold its annual Fall Festival and Open House
Saturday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited.
There will be face painting, games, apple bobbing, a cake walk, food
and beverages, arts and crafts, door prizes and more.

Wed to Benjamin Hicks
Lara Dawn Pilgrim and Benja
min Thomas Hicks were united
in marriage Friday, Oct. 19, 2007,
at the Jackson County court
house with Judge Billy Chandler
officiating.
The bride is the daughter of
Wayne and Donna Pilgrim of
Maysville. The groom is the son
of Rachael Hicks of Pendergrass
and Ronnie Price of Arcade.
The bride was given in marriage
by her father. Her mother served
as matron of honor, and her sis
ter, LeAnn Stowe, was the maid
of honor. Latasha Evans, Leann
Smith and Naomi Fish were bridal
attendants. Maddlynn Stowe and
Breanna Smith were flower girls.
Matt Mealor, Josh Denton and
Allen Ray were groom’s atten
dants, and Jonathan Pilgrim was
the ring bearer.
Following a wedding trip to
Oktoberfest in Helen, the couple
resides in Pendergrass.
