Jackson County
Runners Club Plans
Event In Nicholson
The Jackson County Runners’ Club
will meet at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11,
at 550 Beaver Pond Road, Nicholson.
Runners and walkers of all levels are
invited for a group trail/road run or a
trail walk.
“Runner Keith Ariail will lead run
ners on a combination trail/road run
of approximately four miles, while
I’ll lead walkers on an alternate trail
walk of approximately two miles, “
said club host, Donna O’Kelley Butler.
“The terrain, while very scenic, is a
little rough, so runners should wear
trail shoes, or be prepared to take it
slower than usual for the first mile.
Walkers will be fine with a sturdy pair
of walking shoes"
The group will hold a short social
and organizational meeting following
the run/walk.
“As the weather cools, we may want
to rethink our club strategy,” Butler
said, so leaders welcome new ideas
for the club. We’ll also discuss several
upcoming run/walks, including the
Dec. 1 benefit run for the Braselton
Library. New members are welcome,
but directions are essential, so please
call 706-559-4841 or email storytell-
er826@bellsouth.net for more infor
mation.

CHS Cross Country
5 Tigers Hit Best
Times At Region
Five runners turned in their
best times of the season as
Commerce High School’s cross
country team placed fifth in the
region meet.
“I was very proud of the team,"
commented coach Mark Hale.
“Wes Lewis ran the best race he
has ever run. His time was 19:24.
I was so proud of him for going
out like that his senior year. He
worked very hard last summer,
and to see it pay off was very
gratifying.”
Lewis placed 18th. Chase
Keller finished in 20:10, good
for 26th.
“Adam Tomlin, Jeffery Hen
derson, Ethan Spencer and
Cole Ledford all had their per
sonal bests at the region meet,”
Hale noted. “That is exactly
what you hope for.”
On the girls’ side, Victoria
Neisler and Belen Montes had
their best times of the year.
“We really had a great bunch
of seniors,” Hale said. “Victoria,
Belen, Wes, Chase and Adam
practiced hard every day and
were a great example for our
young runners. It was a plea
sure to coach each of these in
dividuals.”

“The girls are thrilled,” Roller

the girls perform like they did
on Saturday, they should do
very well against all of the other
teams in the state.”
