At the same time, the play ing surface left something to be desired as the school’s track came into play at both end zones. The asphalt surface was covered with artificial grass in the end zones, but none of the Tiger coaches — or any of the referees — had ever seen a field where asphalt was in play. Additionally, from the sideline of the field there was only three to four feet of grass before the surface turned to asphalt. Fortu nately, the asphalt did not come into play Friday night. “It didn’t make a difference in the game,” Savage observed. The hold against Thomas Sears (17) helped Commerce eventually took over on downs. stop a Trojan drive during the second half. Photos by Mark Beardsley Travaris Glasper and Doug Maloch make a stop. The Tiger defense stuffed the Trojans on four fourth-down attempts. Quarterback Reuben Haynes looks for running room during first-half action Friday. not like any other mammogram?
