Photo by April Reece Sorrow Parole Denied For Convicted Murderer The State Board of Pardons and Parole recently denied parole for Stanley McGuire, 40. McGuire was convicted of malice mur der in Jackson County Superior Court in 1993 for the murder of Lillian Starks, 34. This was the second time the parole board denied McGuire parole. On Oct. 31, 1992, a man was fishing on a lake on Johnson Farm in Jackson County when Stark’s body surfaced. Authorities arrived and removed Stark’s body from the lake. Her mouth was taped with duct tape and her hands were bound behind her back. A 21 and a half pound con crete block was tied to her left leg. Mrs. Stark’s cause of death was drowning, indicating that she was placed in the water while she was still alive.
