Research Medieval Times
Do The 'Holka Polka
East Jackson Elementary School fourth grade
Challenge students in Suzy Dukes’class recently
performed an adapted version of “Holka Polka”
for several classes at the school. Cast members,

Students in Pam Canup’s English as a Second
Language (ESL) class at Commerce Middle
School recently read the novel “The Whipping
Boy” and conducted research on Medieval times.
The students concentrated on the study of cas
tles, the class system and weapons of the times.
Students culminated their research by build
ing a class castle and making their own coats
of arms. Left to right are (front) Safo Atakora,

Orlando Gonzalez and Eduardo Ledesma.
Spelling Bee Winners
Ainsley Lee (right) was the winner of the Kings Bridge Middle
School Spelling Bee which was held Jan. 18.Tesia Gaines (left) was
the first runner-up.
Paper Drive
Commerce Middle School
will hold a monthly paper
drive on the second Saturday
of each month.
Recyclable paper products
can also be dropped off any
time during normal school
hours. All proceeds go to
CMS classrooms.
Newspapers, magazines,
and various cardboard are
all recyclable. Paper that has
been wet or dirty cannot be
recycled.

Set Substitute
Teacher Workshop
The Commerce City Schools
will host a substitute teacher
training workshop Tuesday,
Feb. 19. It will be held in the
Commerce High School media
center from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m.
There is no charge, but
school officials ask interested
participants to contact Nadine

plan to attend.
