Born in Henderson, Ky., he was the son of the late William Claude and Peachie Sutton Eaden. Mr. Eaden was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. 'TJ' Flynn Tommy Larry “TJ” Flynn, Jr., 28, of Nicholson, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008, following inju ries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Clarke County, he was the son of Tommy Larry Flynn Sr. and Linda Miller Flynn. Survivors in addition to his parents, include a son, Timothy Elijah Flynn, Asheville, N.C.; step-sisters, Joanna Willis, Ila, and Tammy Arnold, Winterville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews from North Carolina and Georgia. Graveside services were held Saturday, February 9, at Black Cemetery in Hull with the Rev. Kelby Maxwell officiating. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements. The Commerce News, February 13, 2008. 'Jim' Dunn James Joseph Dunn, 73, died Thursday, February 7, 2008. He was born December 8, 1934, in Massillon, Ohio, and attended Central Catholic High School. He —^ was a 1957 graduate of John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended George Washington University Law School. Mr. Dunn was a veter an, having served in the United States Army as a counter intel ligence agent. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Redmond Dunn, Maysville; sons, James J. Dunn II, Buford, Timothy K. Dunn, Stone Mountain, and Terrance M. Dunn, Flowery Branch; a step son, Joe M. Topia II, Maysville; nine grandchildren; and two step- grandchildren. A memorial mass was held Monday, February 11, at St. Monica Catholic Church in Duluth with the Rev. Jack Durkin officiating. Emmett Walker Emmett McGuire Walker Sr., 78, of Musella, died Thursday, February 8, 2008. He was the son of the late Ernest “Jack” McGuire and Mary Ruth Barker Walker. He was a member of the Musella Baptist Church, and was also a deacon being ordained at Roberta Baptist Church. He was an avid fan of Crawford County Football Touchdown Club and a Bridge Builder for Bible Memory Association, according to loved ones. Mr. Walker was a veteran, hav ing served during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Crawford County Lions Club, the GA Kraft Retirees, and Modern Woodmen. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Toney Walker, Musella, previously of Commerce; sons and daughters-in-law, Emmett “Chuck” Jr. and Bonnie Walker, Reynolds, Charles Tony Walker, Musella, and Steven “Chip” and Peggy Walker, Tampa, Fla.; mother, Eva H. Toney, Macon, previously of Commerce; broth ers and sister-in-law, Edward M. Walker and Melvin A. and Nita Walker, all of Musella; grandchil dren, Bryan and Bonda Walker, Wendy and John “Bo” Perry, all of Musella, and Savanna Walker, Tampa, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brenton Walker and Walker Perry. Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late George and Lena Deaton Montgomery. She was a homemaker and a member of the Winder Church of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her husband, Grady W. Kennedy. Survivors include daughters, Vivian Hayes, Braselton, Kathy Weatherford, Colbert, and Veronica Still, Bethlehem; sons, Grady Kennedy Jr., Winder, Steve Kennedy, Bethlehem, and Ronnie Kennedy, Winder; 19 grandchil dren; a host of great-grandchil dren; and several great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 10, at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Gary Carlyle officiating. Burial was in Carter Hill Church cem etery. Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late William and Myrtle Allen Barrett. He decided at a very early age he did not like working in the cotton mills in Gainesville, so he became a merchant seamen. Over a career of 35 years, he advanced from a deckhand to a ship’s master, transporting oil and grain around the world. Survivors include a sister, Bessie Wheeler, Ila; a nephew, Ronnie Wilkie, Ila; and a niece, Leida Fitzpatrick McDonough. Graveside services were held at Jackson Memorial Garden Sunday, February 10. Born in London, England, she was the daughter of the late David and Adele Aaram. She was a homemaker and a mem ber of Galilee Christian Church. Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Jewell Williamson. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, David Scott and April Williamson, Jefferson, and Dale Francis Williamson, Commerce; a daughter, Maria Adele Williamson, Atlanta; grand son, Jason Scott Williamson, Jefferson; and a brother, Raymond Sinclair, Toronto, Canada. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 13, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Plank officiat ing. Burial was in the Bethany United Methodist Church cem etery. Harold Skelton Harold Donaldson Skelton, 82, of Jefferson, died Thursday, February 7, 2008. Mr. Skelton was a vet eran, having served in the United States Navy during World War II. Born on November 18, 1938, she was a native of Jackson County and the daughter of the late Robert and Addie Sims. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Paul Baptist Church of Jefferson. Survivors include sons, Alvin Sims, David Sims, Norris Sims and Robert Randolph; sisters, Mattie Watson, Sarah Gunn, Jane Sims and Mabeth Sims; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was born in Athens, the son of the late Herbert Vernon and Reather Coile Maxwell. He was a carpenter by trade, working for various contractors in Georgia and Florida. Survivors include sisters and brothers-in-law, Denise and Tony Mattox, Colbert, Dianne and Sandy England, Nicholson; paternal grandmother, Frances Maxwell, Bowman; aunts, Barbara Maxwell, Sylvia Butler, Gail Seymour, Jan Oglesby; uncles, Joe Maxwell, Mark Maxwell; nephews, Brent, Chris, Ryan, Dustin and Harley. Born on December 6, 1923, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Amos Allen and Mollie Ruth Jackson Morris. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lula, was a truck driv er with 35 years of service, and employed with Whitfield Funeral Home with 22 years of dedicated service. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Hall Morris; his second wife, Velma Inez Prescott Morris; and a brother, Cy “Tubby” Morris. Survivors include step-daugh ters, Phyllis Free, Folkston, and Mary Adams, Toccoa; a son, Edward Hall, Acworth; step-sons, Darrell Edenfield, Homer, Pete Edenfield, Jacksonville, Fla., and Rod Johnson, Charleston, S.C.; brother, Allen Morris, Cornelia; special nephew, Mack Morris, Lula; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ralph Parker Ralph William Parker, 73, of Homer, died Monday, February 11, 2008, at his residence. Born in Asheville, N.C., he was the son of the late James and Martha Jones Parker. Mr. Parker was a vet eran, having served in the United States Navy. Survivors include his wife, Clara Brackett Parker, Homer; daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Floyd Livers, North Carolina. The Commerce News, February 13, 2008. Max Ragland Max Adams Ragland, 71, of Villa Rica, formerly of Commerce, died Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Heartland Hospice, following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Bonnie Adams and Tom Rufe Ragland. Mr. Ragland was pre ceded in death by a brother, Tom R. Ragland. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1954, graduated from Mercer University receiving a bachelor of science degree in math and physics, and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. As a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church, he served in many capacities, including Sunday School Teacher, on the Administrative Council, Finance Committee, a Stephen Minister, and a member of the Woodruff Sunday School Class. He was very civic minded as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Macon and was in the banking and data processing business for over 40 years. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Sewell Ragland; daughters and sons-in-law, Nan and Kenny Fletcher, Valdosta, Kay and Garry Williams, Macon; six grandchildren; four nephews; sister-in-law, Harriett Ragland, Stone Mountain; one great-niece; one great-nephew; and many cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at the Riverside United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 29. A native of Douglas County, he was the son of the late Samuel Albert and Bertha Thompson Griffith. He was preceded in — death by his wife, Nancy Ann Paul Griffith. He was a veteran, having served during World War II as a paratrooper and was wounded while in New Guinea. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his ser vice. He graduated in 1949 from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in education. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed the same seats at Sanford Stadium since 1950. Survivors include children, Susan Burke, Athens, Mark Griffith, Watkinsville, and Robbie Griffith, Commerce; a sister, Carolyn Griffith Jones, Austell; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 13, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home. Burial was in Athens Memory Gardens.
