The Commerce News Page 6B • FEBRUARY 13,2008 Social News Special Program On Reptiles Coming To Library For Fourth And Fifth Graders Porsha Bush To Marry Mr. Williams On April 12 Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Bush of Commerce announce the engage ment and forthcoming mar riage of their daughter, Porsha Lashaunda Bush, to Courtney Zdenek Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Moon of Hull. The wedding will take place Saturday, April 12, 2008 in Commerce. The bride is a graduate of Jackson County Comprehensive Air Force Airman Kimberly Savage has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Judy Southwick and stepdaughter of Lloyd Southwick, Jefferson. Savage is a 2004 graduate of Commerce High School. During the six weeks of training, she studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military cus toms and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. High School and a graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor of arts degree in speech communications. She is an executive search consultant in Atlanta. Mr. Williams is a graduate of Madison County High School. He attended Savannah State University. He is employed with Publix Distribution Center, Lawrenceville. Airman Kimberly Savage The Commerce Public Library is teaming up with the Sandy Creek Nature Center to put on a special program next Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 for fourth and fifth graders (youngsters aged 9 to 11). Called “Reptiles,” the program will be an up-close look at the lives and habits of lizards, turtles and other cold-blooded critters, with naturalists from the nature center providing the infor mation in a way that is specially geared for this age group. Participants can expect to have a lot of fun, and to see not just the critters, but also their eggs and skins. Parents are invited to call and reserve a place for their fourth-grader or fifth-grader at “Reptiles.” “And don’t worry if your child doesn’t fall in this age group,” says Lisa Crumley, the library staffer who is coordinating the program. “We’ll be doing pro grams for other age groups in the near future!” Listen To This Newspaper The library creates an audio- tape edition of The Commerce News each week, and mails it to those with vision problems that make it hard to read the newspa per in its printed form. Library Board member Mary Wood records the news, editori als and obituaries every Thursday and then makes copies of the tape. The post office provides free postage, so if you would like for someone to receive this free service, all the library needs is the name, address, and phone number of that person. The library has some sug gestions for you. “We have the BJC Medical Center’s monthly Alzheimer’s education and sup port group will meet on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. This month’s group is meeting the third Thursday instead of the second due to Valentine’s Day.
