'Vicious' Dogs Are
Reported In Hoschton
JEFFERSON - A Hoschton
man reported that his dog was
attached by three “vicious dogs’’
last week, according to an inci
dent report filed at the Jackson
County Sheriff’s Office.

Teen Bomb Suspect To
Be Sentenced Thursday

Andrew Thomas Criswell,
16, will be sentenced Thursday
after pleading guilty to charges
stemming from a bomb inci
dent at Jackson County Com
prehensive High School April
11,2007.
Criswell will be sentenced
at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in
courtroom one before Supe
rior Court Judge Joe Booth. The
teenager, who was charged as
an adult, could face three to 45
years in prison.
Criswell pled guilty to pos
session of a destructive device,
false imprisonment and three
counts of terroristic threats.
District attorney Rick Bridge-
man said earlier this month that
several witnesses will testify be
fore the sentencing.
Criswell, who had a live bomb
strapped to his body, surren
dered to authorities at JCCHS
after a tense two-hour standoff.
He was taken into custody after
meeting face-to-face with sever
al law enforcement officials.
After his surrender, authorities
used a bomb squad robot to re
move the explosive device and
detonate it outside the school
building. Bomb dogs were also
brought into the school to clear
it for any other possible devic
es.

The Commerce Police Department responded to 2,258 calls for
service during January, according to figures released by the Com
merce City Manager Monday night.
Those calls included 2,009 dispatched by 911, 78 walk-ins at the
police department and 171 calls to the school resource officer.
Officers also filed 27 accident reports and 88 incident reports
during January, and the animal control officer handled 62 animal
control reports.
During the month, the department issued 239 citations, of which
123 were for speeding, 14 were for license violations and five were
for driving under the influence (DUI) of intoxicants.
On the criminal side, the department made 12 arrests for theft-
related charges and had only one drug case, which resulted in the
seizure of $552 in cash.
