Courtney Campbell and Heather Tyson are hoping their favor
ite teacher will get to kiss the pig. This week, Commerce Middle
School is helping raise money for the American Cancer Society’s
Relay for Life by holding a “kiss-the-pig” contest. Students bring
in money and use it to “vote” for the teacher or administrator
of their choice to “win” the competition. The teacher in whose
name the most money is donated will kiss the pig during an

TO THE GOOD PEOPLE
OF COMMERCE
The Commerce Recreation Department and its
Opening Day Committee wish to thank all volunteer
workers and the good people of Commerce who
purchased “Chicken-Q” tickets for the benefit of the
boys and girls in this activity.
Last Saturday’s opening day activities - from the
opening ceremonies to the Chicken-Q to the final
pitch of the last game - were highly successful. The
ticket sales and the preparation of food for the
Chicken-Q were an overwhelming success.
We wish to thank
Wayne and Heather Abbs
of Wayne-Neal Chevrolet
for donating their time, effort and resources to make
the Chicken-Q happen. They, along with their
employees and volunteer parents, raised $8,000 to
benefit this program. Thanks to all of you. You have
true community spirit - you are the best.
The first priority on this will be scholarships for
children who could not otherwise pay the registration
fee to play youth sports. Other projects, with coaches’
help, will be identified as the season progresses.
