Study At Rock Eagle
Sixty-four fourth graders at Commerce
Elementary School attended the school’s sixth
annual trip to Rock Eagle 4-H camp March
26-28. The field trip covers many of the science
and social studies GPS standards required by
the state in fourth grade. The classes consist
of many hands-on activities outdoors in the
areas of forest science, herpetology, lake ecol
ogy and sensory awareness. Students took
the Rock Eagle hike, participated in a Native
American study, and team initiative activities
during their three-day stay.

2 KBMS Students Win Music Scholarships
Two Kings Bridge Middle School
band students have been selected
for a Tara Winds Music Scholar
ship that will pay their way to at
tend a summer band camp of
their choice.
They are Carolyn Cown, who
plays the clarinet, and Melissa
Spinelli, a trombonist. Both are
eighth graders.
The scholarships were present
ed Sunday, April 20, at the Tara
Winds Community Band Schol
arship concert at Reinhardt Col
lege.
Cown and Spinelli were selected
through a statewide application
process, which included middle
school and high school appli
cants, according to Candy White,
band director.
