EJCHS Drama Program
Offers 'Fools' This Week
In its inaugural season, the East
Jackson Comprehensive High
School drama department will
offer a light-hearted production
of the 1981 Neil Simon comedy,
“Fools,” at 7 p.m. Thursday and
Friday, May 8 and 9, and at 2 p.m.
Saturday, May 10.
All performances are to be
held at the EJCHS theater at
1435 Hoods Mill Rd„ Commerce.
Tickets will be $7 for adults and
$5 for students.
“Fools” takes place in the
Ukrainian village of Kulyenchikov
“long ago.” The village has been
put under a curse rendering all
its inhabitants completely stupid.
A young schoolteacher is sent
to the town to break the curse
by teaching a beautiful young
girl. If he fails to educate her
in one day he will become a
fool himself. This play is a romp
through an impossibly silly situa
tion with hysterical site gags and
one-liners. The play is directed
by Ashley Ware, teacher/director
with EJCHS, who said the presen
tation is going to be “a wonderful
showcase for the young talent at
EJCHS and a great way to intro
duce Eagle Entertainment to the
community.”
