Robert Patrick
Robert T. Patrick, 57, of
Commerce, died Tuesday, June 17,
at his residence.
He was born in Jackson County,
the son of the late John William
and Willie Mae
Payne Patrick.
Mr. Patrick was
preceded in
death by a sister,
Wilma Cochran;
and a brother,
Billy Joe Patrick.
Survivors
include his wife,
Teresa Turpin
Patrick; daughters, Tabitha Turpin,
Heather Stockton and April Patrick,
all of Nicholson; sons, Daniel
Turpin, Danielsville, Robert Turpin,
Unadilla, and Matthew Stockton,
Nicholson; sisters, Johnnie Sue Hill,

Nicholson; brothers, Roy Patrick,
Edward Patrick, Waymon Patrick,
Roger Patrick and David Patrick,
all of Commerce, Alfred Patrick,
Maysville; grandchildren, Kayla

Thursday June 19, in the chapel of
Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev,
Troy Herbert and Eddie Gordon
officiating.

William Baker
William Horace Baker, 73, of
Maysville, died Saturday June 21,
2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical
Center in
Gainesville.
He was born in
Jackson County,
the son of the
late Orville
and Cora Lee
Watkins Baker,
Mr. Baker was
preceded in
death by broth
ers, Alford Baker and Shirley Baker;
and a sister, Modell Sorrows,
Survivors include his wife, Martha
M. Baker, Maysville; daughters,
Patsy Wiley, Banks County, and
Phyllis Collins, Hull; a son, William
Fred Baker, Bryson City, N.C.;
brothers, W.C. Baker, Bob Baker,
Lonnie Baker, Calvin Baker and
Wendy Baker; sister, Jean Richey;
nine grandchildren; 12 great-grand
children; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Monday June 23, in the chapel of
Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev.
David Strickland officiating. Burial
was in Howington Cemetery.

was in charge of arrangements.

Henry Wilson
Henry Nathaniel Wilson Jr„ 73,
of Nicholson, died Sunday, June 22,
2008, at his residence.
Born in Jackson County, he was
the son of the late
Henry Nathaniel
Wilson Sr. and
Ruzell Garner
Smallwood. He
was a veteran,
having served in
the United States
Army, and was
a retired truck
mechanic. Mr.
Wilson was pre
ceded in death by a
son, Clarence Austin
Brown Jr,; and a brother, Frank
Smallwood.
Survivors include his wife, Jane
McEver Wilson, Nicholson; daugh
ters, MaryAnn Blevins, Ila, Carolyn
Brown, Nicholson, and Sherri
Smith, Gainesville; brother, Howard
Smallwood, Atlanta; seven grand
children; eight great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild,
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, June 25, in the chapel
of Little-Ward Funeral Home with
the Rev, Donald Wilson officiating.
Burial was in Nicholson Cemetery.

Hoyt Anderson
Hoyt W. Anderson, 87, of Athens,
died Friday June 20, 2008, at the
Cobb Healthcare Center in Comer,
He was born in Pocatella, the
son of the late Julian Lawson and
Hattie Lee Wheeler Anderson. Mr.
Anderson was preceded in death
by a sister, Elizabeth Hanley; and
brothers, J.P. Anderson, Howard
Anderson and Roy Anderson. He
was a veteran, having served in the
United States Army.
Survivors include his wife,

Church in Ila with the Rev. Larry
Dyer officiating. Burial was in the
church cemetery,

Joseph Seay
Joseph Edward Seay, 81, of
Gastonia, N.C., died Tuesday, June
17, 2008.
Born in Banks County he was the
son of the late William Harrison
and Chester Parr
Seay, He was a
retired supervisor
with Knit Products
Corporation, He was a member
of the Belmont Masonic Lodge,
member of the Catawba Heights
Baptist Church, where he served
as a deacon, and was a former
member of Stowe Memorial Baptist
Church, where he was a former
Sunday school superintendent and
deacon, He was preceded in death
a sister, Mozelle Lord; and broth
ers, Otis, J.B, and Lewis Seay. Mr.
Seay was a veteran, having served
in the United States Navy aboard
the USS Princeton.
Survivors include his wife,
Mildred Purcell Seay; daughter and
son-in-law, Trish Seay and Johnny
Baucom, Kannapolis; son and
daughter-in-law, William Joseph and
Jean Seay, Alexis; grandchildren,
Melissa Duncan, Jeanna Johnson,
William Seay Jr, and Julia Seay; six
great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille

Dora Mae Irwin
Dora Mae Irwin, 77, of Athens,
died Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
She was born in Forsyth County
on October 31, 1930, the daughter
of the late John and Mae Sargent.
She and her family was raised in
the South Jackson County area for
most of their lives, and was pre
ceded in death by a daughter, Diane
Green; and a grandchild, Heather
Lynn Green.
Survivors include children, Johnny
and Juanita Irwin, Ila, Dennis and
Lisa Irwin Craft, Bogart, Richard
and Julie Irwin Standridge and
Meco Irwin Robinson, all of Athens,
Ronald L. Green, Nicholson, and
David "Gene” Robinson, Commerce;
11 grandchildren; and 15 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday,
June 20, in the chapel of Bridges
Funeral Home with the Rev. Carol
Fletcher officiating. Burial was in
Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.
Grandsons were pallbearers.

was in charge of arrangements.

'Kitty' Howard
Catherine “Kitty” Guest Howard,
71, of Crawford, died Tuesday
June 17, 2008, at Athens Regional
Medical Center in Athens.
She was born in Oglethorpe
County, the daughter of the late S ,T.
and Lillian Gunter Guest. She was
retired after 30 years from Reliance
Electric and was Methodist.
Survivors include her husband of
53 years, Clifford Warren Howard
Sr.; children and spouses, Warren
Howard, Commerce, Arthur and
Gail Howard, Madison, Cathy and
William Donohoe, Karen and Frank
Patman, all of Crawford; sister and
brother-in-law, Valjean and Randy
Rutledge, Crawford; nine grandchil
dren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Thursday, June 19, in the chapel of
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home
with the Rev. John Parker officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Pleasant Apostolic
Church Cemetery.

Evelyn Miller
Evelyn Brown Miller, 91, of
Gainesville, died Sunday, June 22,
2008, at her residence.
Born on December 11, 1916, she
was the daughter of the late Johnnie
and Louise Marchbanks Brown.
She worked for a time at New
Holland Cotton Mill and spent the
remainder of her life as a home
maker and wonderful mother. Mrs.
Miller was preceded in death by her
baby, Mary Ann Miller; and several
brothers.
Survivors include her husband of
63 years, Jack Miller, Gainesville;
daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine
and David Pierce and Genell and
Roger Armour, all of Gainesville,
Belinda and Dave Cash, St. George
Island, Fla.; grandchildren, Brandon
and Carly Pierce, Brenton and Amy
Pierce, Kasey and Chad Bolton,
Christie and Hastin Slaton; great
grandchildren, Erica and Corder
Pierce, Morgan and Hannah Pierce,
Noah, Jonah and Luke Thomas
Bolton; and a brother, Howard
Brown, Commerce.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, June 24, in the chapel of
Little-Davenport Funeral Home
with the Revs. Wilburn Peeples
and Cleve Scovill officiating. Burial
was in Springway Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Susan Angela Chastain, 43, of
Colbert, died Saturday, June 14,
2008, at her residence in Madison
County.
She was the daughter of the
late Roy Allen and Shirley Stone
Chasteen.

and Westley Epps, Athens.
Funeral services were held
Monday, June 23, at Ross Chapel
Baptist Church in Oconee County.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
