VBS Set For July
Madison Street Baptist Church,
Commerce, will host Vacation
Bible School Monday through
Friday, July 14-18, from 5:45 to
8:15 p.m. nightly.
The theme will be “Outrigger
Island."
A celebration service will be
held Sunday, July 20, at 6 p.m.
The writer of Lifeway Vacation
Bible School music, Jeff Slaughter,
will be the guest.
Registration will be taken at the
door, or call for pre-registration.

Music Camp To
Be Held Soon
First Baptist Church,
Commerce, will hold its annual
music camp Sunday through
Friday, July 13 - 18, from 6 to
8:30 p.m. nightly.
Children ages pre-k through
sixth grade are invited to attend.
“Special guests and instructors
will expose children to sacred
music from all time periods," said
Todd Chandler, director of the
Jackson County Comprehensive
High School choral program
and conductor at First Baptist
Church.
The guest instructors are
Terry Lowry, conductor Carroll
Symphony Orchestra and music
director of the First Baptist Church
of Carrollton; Julie Lowry, vocal
coach at West Georgia College
and Teresa Sauls, middle grades
music specialist.
Todd Chandler will lead choir
sessions.
Clinicians and performing
groups include on Monday,
Dr. Wallace Hinson, head of
the Piedmont College Choral
Department; Tuesday, Atlanta
Early Music Alliance; Wednesday,
Kim Sellers, Commerce School of
Dance and Thursday, BlueGrace.
A concert will be held Friday.

Preschool Has
Some Spaces Left
Commerce First Methodist
Church preschool has limited
spaces for two, three and four
year old half-day classes for the
2008-09 school year.
Classes will be from 7:45 a.m.
to 12 noon.
Students will learn using the
A beka curriculum, the chapel,
computers, music and movement
classes and more.
The cost varies from $120 -
$160 a month.

Band Seeking
Singers/Players
Commerce First United
Methodist Church praise and
worship band is seeking addi
tional singers and musical instru
ment players including a drum
mer.
The band is in the forma
tion stages but performs at the
church’s 9 a.m. Sunday worship
service.
Plans are also underway for the
band to support a new Sunday
evening youth oriented service
as well as a youth event called
“Focus on Jesus 2008."

Redemption Outreach
Ministries, Homer, will host its
third annual “Freedom Fest"
Friday, July 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.
on the courthouse lawn in down
town Homer.
The event will be free.
Inflatables, moonwalk, boxing
ring, dual lane slide and an obsta
cle course will be available.

drinks and snow-cones will be
